I purchased a book lot from an auction to sell on my etsy store. I bought them sight unseen. I was about to put a Lord of the Flies paperback on my shop when I noticed a signature up in the inside cover. It said John Belushi. So I'm looking into the authenticity of it.

It doesn't look anything like Belushi's adult signature. What's printing is the book and what area (city, etc.) did you purchase it from? When it was printed and where it was sold may tell you if it makes sense to spend time doing more research.

A member or so may have examples of his childhood handwriting. And it could be a different John Belushi of course.

i think somebody tryed to give the book more value to copy John's autograph.

Thanks. You may well be right, but there is a chance that it's legit from when he was a boy, so I think it's worth some time and effort to research more.

The copyright is 1954. Not the best shape but good for vintage paperback.

I doubt that. I bought a huge lot of books with no description as to what they were. They belonged to an older woman who just had tons of books of all kinds. Nobody had gone through them to catalogue them. They were in boxes when I picked them up. They were purchased outside of Rochester NY. It might not be authentic but I doubt it was intentionally done to fool someone.

Paperbacks go around and around to different used book stores for years. Where they are originally from isn't always where they stayed. I buy books in every city I visit just because I love books. I'm just curious about the signature, that's all. I'm not a collector of them.

Since this is a book that was owned by the Talmudical Institute of Upstate NY, a Jewish college in an area he never lived, it's very unlikely to be Belushi's youth handwriting. He wasn't Jewish and didn't move to NY until he was an adult.

There's nothing wrong with looking for handwriting from his younger years and seeing if it's similar. Maybe members will have examples.

OK thanks

Was John Belushi a Beatle?
