Grover Whalen President of the 1939 New York World's Fair Signed 7.22.39

Hi All,

Something I have wanted for a long time. Grover Whalen's autograph on an album page from the Fair itself. He was Police Commissioner and also head of Maison Coty perfumes before this famous gig. Signature in fountain below the 8x10 pro positive Kodachrome transparency of the Fair and the Grand Central Parkway bridge before opening day on April 30th, 1939. Hard to believe this image is 80 years old. That tower is called the Trylon and was 610 feet tall - all in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens New York. 61 Million people came here.

Hi again,

I have precious few exemplars - anyone else have a Whalen?

Anyone? Despite the lack of exemplars I feel this is perfectly authentic. Not the first time I have bought blind without an exemplar (Miyao O'Hara C. 1955 being one).

This is a known authentic example from 1938/39

:

Anyone?
