Since I'm new to this forum and the members on this site have already helped me out twice by warning me of likely forged autographs (Michael Jackson, Kurt Cobain) I'd like to contribute something on here that I know is 100% real (well, 99.9%) and my favourite autograph in my collection - my Elvis Presley cut signature. I know his signature varied a lot over time and this signature might look a bit off at first glance but it has the necessary provenance to come to the conclusion that it's undoubtedly real. I decided to share it for future comparisons as it might help others searching for authentic Elvis signatures :)

Its very rare to see the 2 names separated like this.   If real, then its a nice and very neat one.  Thats my comment.

Totally agree with you on this, plus it's very rare that he signed with a sharpie. I bought it from the woman (Lori) who got it in person at his Hilton suite after a concert in February 1974 when she was 18. I have a two page letter detailing the event and got it certified by Beckett myself. Also received positive feedback by Roger Epperson and Rich Consola before I bought it. So no doubt in my mind that it's real :) But it definitely is a great example to show how inconsistent he was with his signature.

Well there were certainly black felt tips pens in 1974, even if not a sharpie.  Id be more concerned if it was in blue.  I'm kinda surprised Roger & Consola both agreed on this.  Its atypical to me anyway,  Even on contracts he usually connected his first & last names.  But the letter formations and slant seem correct.  Yes inconsistent was Elvis after the 55-57 period.

I know what you mean, very rarely have I seen one that is not connected and not an obvious fake one. And to be honest I too was not entirely sold on this one when I saw it for the first time :D But after talking to Lori and knowing that Epperson & Consola both agreed on it, as well, I had to buy it. I only sent it in to Beckett for slabbing but obviously it's nice to know that they also certified it (although I don't value their opinion as much).

Very unlikely. Don't trust Beckett's. They are very inconsistent.

Agree with you on the Beckett part, the primary reason for me to send it in was to get it slabbed. The positive opinion of Epperson & Consola, which I both highly value, plus the story behind it was the main reason for me to pull the trigger on this one. Appreciate your opinion, though :) The purpose of an online forum such as this one is always discussion and to learn from one another.

Out of interest, how much did you pay?

Elvis is difficult to authenticate, even for experts at Graceland. An autograph signed with a marker pen makes it virtually impossible to authticate with a modicum of certainly.

If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. The COA does add value.

I paid 1,350$ for it last year.
You‘re absolutely right about that, one of the most forged autographs for a reason. In the end what Lori told me about the autograph and its origin made me completely confident that this is the real deal. And I‘m more than happy with it, most beloved piece in my collection :)

Hello Fabian,

wow - what a unique autograph with an impressive provenance.

Thanks for sharing! Very interesting and rare indeed...

Looking forward to more such stories ;-)

Kind regards
Markus

Thanks Markus, I appreciate it :)

Well Fabian I am a little late, but I think this Autograph is absolutely real. Looks like it was signed between 1972 or 1974. Everything fits in my eyes. Like others said, Elvis was very inconsistent with his signature.

Thought I would add this image to the discussion.

I owned this for a number of years but sold it about 6 years ago,

I purchased this directly from the lady who had Elvis sign it.

I think both Fabian's Elvis autograph & my example posted here are genuine.

As we all have learned Elvis autographs aren't always the classic style we might prefer
