Storage unit find. I'm thinking to send ball for authentication but would love someone to check it out first and tell me does it worth anything. Should I spend $100-$200 to authenticate it? One of the signatures belong to Sam Perlozzo I believe and possibly there are few others I was able to find online. Basically I have 2 questions. 1 Does ball worth authentication. 2 Approximate value. Thank you.
Late 1980s/early-1990s New York Mets team signed. Notables include Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, Mel Stottlemeyer, Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden.
Signatures are too blurry for me to determine authenticity.
Assuming authentic, in this condition I would value around $150 or so with the right buyer. Great team, but common autographs.
Thank you very much. Guess sending it for authentication is pointless. Just not worth it. It will cost as much as ball itself or even more. I have no doubt signatures are real. Storage unit was period correct and owner was Mets fan. He had few more pictures and bunch of other items there. I'll drop ball to eBay with $200 price and best offer option.
I think that's a good call. You might do a quick check for similar team signed balls just to double check my value estimate. Just want to make sure you get maximum value. If it's a 1986 Mets complete team ball, you might aim a little higher to see what happens. Maybe $300-$400. You can do a quick check of an online team roster from 1986 and see if it aligns with the names on the ball. To me it looks like the key players from 86 are represented on your ball.
A championship team signed ball will have more value. Good luck!
