Everyone who got their listing removed would bitch endlessly that the item was authenticated by an eBay-trusted authenticator. Perhaps the solution is that eBay shouldn't even have eBay-trusted authenticators. That system is already a joke considering the notoriously bad GA is an eBay-trusted authenticator. eBay should be willing to pull down questionable listings/known secretarials/forgeries no matter who authenticated the item.

they have and do... it just a different process once they are reported & confirmed.

hit the nail right on the head as to the delemma; trusted authenticators although I believe they use the words; COAs and LOAs from reputable ....

they have dozens listed under a number of categories in  "reputable"  section.   They don't indicate Trusted nor take a position on "authentic" coming from any of the "reputable" one's identified.

regardless of our opinions here, which I don't think they really listen to contrary to popular belief perhaps it should say "more reputable".

You're right. I can't find the word "trusted" anywhere. It's a word we use to explain this entire page quickly: http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/authentication.html#authentication

They call them professional, independent evaluators and basically recommend them.

I, for one, don't find GA reputable at all. They're worse than PAAS in my view and just as bad as any other rubber stamp authenticator.

EBay isn't going to get anywhere in my opinion until they pull down the bad stuff with a blind eye to who authenticated it.

That's why brick more qualified people need to become part of the following solution;

Misrepresented items

If an expert says that an item on eBay is not accurately represented, we reserve the right to remove it if we believe that its sale might create liability for the buyer, the seller, or any third party. If this happens, we’ll refund the listing fee to the seller.

 

Many of us complain (me included) or others simply bitch about things but in the long run do absolutely nothing.  Politics is similar i.e.  I'm not gonna vote but yet complain about the way things are run.  Incidently, I for one choose to do something about it, politics as well as at least some of us can do our small part as best we can.

 

Ebay is a mutl-million or is it billion dollar firm so thinking they are not going anywhere is a personal thought.  But, I understand what you mean.

Well ebay will not pull something down if joe blow yells about it, they only listen to the select few. Until ALL are held to account its a moot point, PSA and JSA will make money and people will make money off the mistakes that they will not acknowledge they made or take action on, so all will think  they are still GOLDEN?

Your probably right louie.  I recall the problems of the "joe blow" was embedded in the deceptiveness that was going on between somes sellers & buyers that started sniping.  It's unfortunate as the legit ones seemed to get lost in the frey.

Have the Joe Blows post here as you did with rationale as I suspect we have some special people around here based on how things disappear from EBAY.

You have some of your items with psa/dna certed so you may have to face that delemma.

But, you are right when you say if these places topple then what!  Look at the slide from GAI and how some here have broadly brushed GA - while I haven't seen enough evidence to lean either way some on this site feel that they are correct in their opinions.  I have to remind others on these threads does that include NASCAR and the typically answer is no.   GAI items have become tainted and even former dealers (in one case) are running a thread on how to remove GAI stickers.

Having said all of this the "hearsay mill" starts chugging and what they heard was "ALL GAI", ALL GA, ALL STAT, ALL ACE and so and so on...    Then there will be others it's not about the cert it's about the signature.  Maybe in an ideal world but those who buy don't live in an ideal world.  How do we know this?   'Cause if everyone was doing their homework noone would be buying the non-authentics (or very little of it) thus they are relying on certs just like that woman with a now ACE certed bogus guitar who believes it's authentic.
