Vintage autographs - who are the best dealers

Hi,

I am looking to buy a vintage cira nineteen teens / twenties signed picture of Mary Pickford, none of the dealers I currently use seem to stock anything this old. Can anyone please advise which dealers are best for this kind of thing.

I did try searching the web, and managed to find a number of pictures signed by her but none of the dealers seem to belong to the UACC or AFTAL which makes me a bit dubious.

On a final note I did find an interesting story regarding PSA/DNA while searching the web, its at:

I just found 2 photographs signed by Mary Pickford. I just started looking online yesterday and found your request. She is quite young in the photos. I am not a dealer.

Are you able to post images in this discussion so that I can check them out, additionally could you please quote the kind of price that you would be asking.

Additionally please note that I am in the UK. (Just mentioned this because I know that some US dealers do not like shipping overseas).

Hi Stephen,  I really just found these yesterday and then saw your posting. I am not sure their value. I saw on eBay someone had a similar image for around $1,500.00 As long as it is cleared through PAY PAL I can't imagine it being a problem shipping to England. Let me knw what you think. The nice thing is she signed the one photo Cordially yours. randy

I found the following autograph at Al Wittenbert Autographs for $190.00 (UACC dealer RD007)

While I do not the picture as much as yours, its quite a difference in price.

Additionally the above link kindly provided above by J Seah (first entry after my initial post has one for $120.00.

I was therefore expecting a price anywhere between the two.

Stephen, I am going to do some reasearch.. Mary Pickford is quite young in the photo I have . I have been looking around and I haven't seen his photo anywhere. The one online you showed me is not as old. I am still interested in selling it, but want to make sure of it's value. Thank you

Hi,

That's a an amazing item, must have cost an arm and a leg.

They came back to me pretty quick and had just the picture I wanted (see below), thanks for pointing out this web site, with so many rubber stamped examples about its nice to know that I am getting the signature from some one who is an expert in these matters. I will make a note to use the web site again for all my vintage autograph needs. The signature look much better if you blow the image up to 8 x 10 which is what the photo is.
