On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

thank you sandy!!!! :)

Now you tell me those are Louis Vuitton sunglasses...? AAAAHHAHAHA
Julien is an honest cie? Bul*** !! those are 1$ counterfaits products and they are going to sell them as if MJ wore them!!!!!!!! When in his life did he wear them? We know every move he made, and I even designed his own glasses!! So i pretty know a LOT on michael glasses... There are 3 fake Louis vuitton, 1 fake lacoste, and 1 fake rayban in this auction. Still not enough?

sorry. slightly off topic. just wanted to say i found two more 1970's examples of Michael writing 'Michael' above 'Jackson' like the Stewart Regan book. it's a style i hadn't seen before.. i guess by the Thriller era Michael had perfected his autograph into the one we're all more familiar with.

Hi Justin, I see you posted these. :)

two more 1970's ones. the second again is similiar to the Regan book.

11x14's of Michael Jackson. Later on signature style.

Steve I've been waiting up for the verdict from PSA/DNA, it's 1:30 am here now! I'm in suspense :p
Can't...stay...awake...any longerrrr....haha.
I'll see it in the morning :)
Goodnight all! XX (as MLB and "Michael" would say, haha)

I am new to this forum and have been reading with great interest.

One thing I noticed in the authentic sigs very clearly vs the ones from the Julien's auction, is that when Michael wrote the word Love, he puts the lower loop in the L below the imaginary line envisioned when we normally write.

I've put two photo's together with multiple pics. One photo has the some of the autographs from the auction (one example of Michael Bush's is included in that photo), and the other is authentic Michael signatures from the fans and his artwork (some of them recently uploaded here and authenticated by yourselves as having witnessed the signatures). I've underlined the word Love in all the photos.

I am not a professional, nor do I know if any authentic Michael sigs have the L's above that imaginary line as noted in most of the auction sigs. I would imagine there are some if space was cramped. But thought I would bring this up.

I know Team Michael mentioned it previously in a post (I was not a member of the forum and was only reading and asked her to bring this up) but the photos were not the best examples.

Here's the album of the photos I've uploaded (please view them in full size). I am unsure if I'm posting this correctly, please forgive me if I'm not lol :)

Thanks.

Thank you for all of your work on this analysis. Just want to mention that I believe the MJ to David Sonnet example is a secretarial signature (based on the loop after the J in Jackson).  I learned that from the 2009 issue of Autograph Magazine.

Thank you again. :)

Got it from this link that it's authentic, http://www.autographquarterly.com/Michael%20Jackson.pdf and also here that it is also....    http://www.americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=5334...  Maybe just his additional writing To David were added to an already pre-signed merch?   I don't know who all the authenticators are...

Which them?  There are two different sites I listed.  I kind of have a hard time believing its not authentic based on other websites as well.  Here is a nice write up about David (the child) and Michael (scroll to the section where his name is located)  ie David Sonnet  http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/50184382.html  There is video with Michael and David.... and of course in typical style, Team MJ, Michael did what he did best...  Make a wish foundation was where Davids parents looked to have their son meet him  :)   There are also several more websites listing this but one with vid and the families real story being told I think would assure the best that Michael gave the items to him.  (The chimp isn't Bubbles though as noted in the vid, he was a chimp, the child is holding an orangutan I believe lol)
