Authenticity is Everything
Michael Jackson Signing Styles in Julien's Tompkins and Bush Sale
On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.
Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.
Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Wow those are some extremely bad forgeries on the first site link :) I don't know maybe Steve can help us out. I would have to dig out my copy of the August 2009 Autograph Magazine which featured MJ. I know the digital copy on this site doesn't include the one page showing the secretarial, but I seem to remember reading about the loop after the J pointing to it being done by an MJ staff.
I want to be sure now as well. Maybe the information about that has changed?

Oh, yes David from Make-a-Wish going to Neverland and meeting Michael :'( Beautiful video. I made a version edit of it with a different song at the end on YouTube. David was so happy in his Beat It jacket :)

Yesterday afternoon I sent 10 Michael Jackson autographs from the Tompkins & Bush sale to PSA/DNA for Quick Opinions on authentication. I chose them by setting the auction listings display to 100 listings a page, doing a search for "signed" and taking the last 10 on the page.

PSA/DNA is the world's largest autograph authentication service (and only an hour from Julien's Auctions). Since they don't think the 10 I submitted are genuine, it's highly likely that every Michael Jackson autograph in the Tompkins & Bush sale that look like those will fail authentication through them, and that's all but a few in the sale.
Roger Epperson thinks they're obviously fake, and Roger is the modern music consultant for JSA, the second largest autograph authenticator.
Roger also has his own authentication service, Roger Epperson Authentication Ltd. (REAL), the leading modern music authentication company.
Whoever buys these Michael Jacksons will be in for a shock if they ever try to sell them.

I realize their are divisions and personal vendettas and all kinds of crap in the Autograph authenticating business and the MJ community too. If someone has a different opinion about something, it becomes a war. I am not a fighter and I hate conflicts. I try to avoid them at all costs. I agree to disagree sometimes and thats that, but it seems that sometimes everything can be put aside and in this matter it seems all past aside, everyone agrees These Signatures are fraudulent.
So the enemy here is anyone saying they are good. And yet no one can prove they are good. They have the benefit of the doubt. Our case should be to prove them wrong. Like in court right? You are innocent until proven guilty. And we have a strong case of guilty but we need as much ammunition as possible.
The only thing I hear anyone saying against this community is BS and misdirection on the frauds side. They give absolutely no credibility or reasons why these signatures are so vastly different and should be taken as genuine except that they say so.
