On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

I can't see inside. It hasn't been scanned.

Oh right, of course.  According to what information is out there that you mentioned earlier, the jacket wasn't shown photographed in Sotheby's catalogue anyway.

It would be nice to locate an old 1989 media blurb on the Sotheby's auction and the jacket.  Or see copy of original Sotheby's invoice.

Guess we're not $324,000 closer to our $5million goal....  :)

Moving on.

Bush showcases many of his eye sore scribbles in his book.  Places them right in with some genuine MJ signatures.  He seems proud of them.  He actually must have thought he did a great job with Michael's signature, which is terrifying.

Here are a few:

Two more forgeries displayed in book, right next to each other - one of each style.  Unbelievable audacity.

A real MJ note mixed in with several forgeries in the pages of Bush's book.  Again, not great photo quality on this.

Sandy, would you please scan this MJ stage note and upload it? - Page 117.  Thanks :)

One more scan request, Sandy..

Page 34 - ( top right glove - to see the signature on it )

Caption below glove:  "...Michael autographed this glove and gave it to me in 1990."

And finally for tonight:

What an exploitative little dirtbag Bush is - in my opinion.  First it was he and Tompkins selling a scribbled on Bubbles outfit and saying "portion proceeds" blah blah blah "to charity" at Bubbles' animal sanctuary.  (Sure).  And NOW from page 32 in Bush-whacker's book, we have another cookie cutter scribble on (of all things) a burn center pamphlet, shown in photo with (supposedly) THE glove MJ wore on the day he was severely, life alteringly burned - one of the worse days of his life.

Caption next to the photo reads: "Left: Michael wore this glove while being wheeled off set on a stretcher after his infamous Pepsi commercial accident in 1984."

And the Bast*rd forges on a MJ burn center pamphlet.  Seriously?  What kind of creature does this?  Sociopath.

WHY would MJ sign a MJ burn center pamphlet and "gift" it to T&B?  This makes the empty stain remover can look like gold.

For the Tompkins and Bush Auction, Julien’s Terms and Conditions read as follows: “…a 20% Buyer’s Premium will be added to the Hammer Price on individual lots $100,000 and higher, and a 25% Buyer’s Premium [will be added to the Hammer Price] on all individual lots of $0.00 to $99,999…” “In addition, there is an additional 3% Buyer’s Premium charged for any lots won on online.” These are additional fees paid by the BUYER and calculated based on the “Hammer Price.”

Julien’s Auctions also charges the SELLER a 20% Commission Rate on the TOTAL “Hammer Price” that must be paid to Julien's Auctions by the SELLER.

Therefore, if an item was purchased online, Julien’s would receive 48% of the “HAMMER PRICE!” So, if the “Hammer Price” for an item was $50,000, then Julien’s would receive an additional $24,000 (nearly half of the purchase price).

So, if you look at the most recent Tompkins and Bush Auction at Julien’s Auctions of MJ Memorabilia held on December 2, 2012, the TOTAL price of all purchases is $5,254,523.50.

Of the total price of $5,254,523.50, Julien’s Auctions (Darren Julien and Martin Nolan and, of course, Laura Wooley as Chief Operating Officer of Julien’s Auctions) received approximately $2,365,535.57 (calculated at 45%, which includes the 20% Commission Rate from Seller and the 25% Buyer’s Premium paid by the BUYER, totaling 45% of all proceeds). I have not had an opportunity to calculate the “exact” Commission and Premiums that Julien’s Auctions received, but this is a fairly good estimate.

And of the $5,254,523.50, minus the 20% Commission Fee Michael Bush has to pay to Julien’s Auctions, Michael Bush walks away with a total of approximately $4,203,618.80 Profit for Property that IMO WAS NEVER HIS TO SELL. And the counterfeiting and forgeries, well that is just as wrong and all of these are extremely serious violations!!! I truly believe it is STOLEN PROPERTY belonging Michael Jackson and his three (3) Children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket. Michael entrusted his clothes to Michael Bush ONLY for the purpose of ultimately being placed in a Museum (Michael Bush said so himself during many interviews) and Karen Faye confirmed this in tweets!!!

The $5.2 million total included the 20-25% buyer's fees, right? Since everything over $100,000 was charged 20% and everything under 25%, let's say the hammer prices totaled about $4.1 million.

At the standard 20% seller's fee, there would be about $820,000 in commissions that Michael Bush would have to pay, so he probably netted in the $3.3 million range.

That leaves about $2 million in fees for Julien's.

These are rough numbers, but they're probably in range.

Thank you for all of your hard work, Michelle.  I agree.  LOVE to you.

Wendy, please send me a private message with all the pages you want from Bush's book, include your email address and I will send to you to post when I'm home from work this evening.
Unfortunately because I only have an iPhone it is hard for me to follow threads here and post pictures.

Thank you Sandy ,, just sent you friend request so I will be able to message you the pages.  There's not too many, about 4 or 5.

Thanks so much :)
