On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.
Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.
Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.
If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/
Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.
Thanks for your help.

Don´t know where to post it in the group so I´ll post it here I guess
Julien’s Auctions will certainly refund any item proven to be inauthentic by a reputable expert in the field. Julien’s Auctions does not refund money when a buyer merely questions the authenticity of an item. Any claim that Julien’s Auctions has stated otherwise with regard to the Collection of Tompkins and Bush is wholly erroneous.
The terms and conditions of the auction are clear. Julien's Auctions guarantees the authenticity of Attribution of a lot for a period of five years from the date of sale to the original purchaser on record at the auction. If it is determined to our satisfaction that the “Attribution” is incorrect, the sale will be rescinded if the lot is returned to the Julien's Auctions warehouse facility in the same condition in which it was at the time of sale. In order to satisfy Julien's that the “Attribution” of a lot is indeed incorrect we reserve the right to require the purchaser to obtain, at the purchaser's expense, the opinion of two experts in the field, mutually acceptable to Julien's and the purchaser, before we agree to rescind the sale under the warranty.
The mere unsupported and unsubstantiated allegations by unknown individuals on the internet does not constitute expert testimony. As you are no doubt aware, anyone can make frivolous assertions about anything they so choose. The allegations, however, in and of themselves, are not facts.
The item you purchased in the auction and the autograph are authentic and genuine. Any claim to the contrary is merely that, a claim, and nothing more by those without the requisite expertise or experience to make such an assertion. Thank you.
and when we wrote once again we pointed out the trouble their way of withdrawing the money from my mothers credit card caused her. And he still don´t acknowledge it or apologize..
I called and was to the point! So now they send another BS letter! Ask them which two authenticators THEY want to use? Lets get this show on the road, please let us know which two they nominate. and Steve and others will advice you, if they chose Michael Frost, its a no go
Actually, I think Mike Frost would be fine. We were very much in disagreement for years, but since last spring I've seen remarkable changes in him. I think he'll give his honest opinions on the MJs.
Ok how is this going to work with Veronica being in Sweden. And who is she suppose to go to, to get her item authenticated? I mean, I see where she is sitting in a bad situation here. Veronica do you still have the box closed up or have you finally opened the package? Steve is this where JAMS can help? If so can you advise her on how to get the process started?
I also love this: "Any claim that Julien's Auction has stated otherwise...." (first paragraph) now sounds as if they are claiming the news station said something he never said. Any way to get the actual footage of him stating this? Because I'd be sending just that small portion of the clip to them first before I did anything else and saying, it wasn't just anyone's "claim", Darren said it. If his own word isn't any good, then "The item you purchased in the auction and the autograph are authentic and genuine" (last paragraph) isn't any good either.
No, it´s still in the box. I even took a pic of it and sent that to him as proof that we have not opened it.
He doesn´t mention anything about what we wrote him regarding Laura and the fact that they caused a lot of trouble and stress with the way they took those $420.
I guess I'm just not sure how you should proceed. Steve can probably advise what you should do first. I am sure that you'll need to follow specifics, since he withdrew his statement to refund anyone questioning the items. Does she look to find an authenticator near her (x2) and submit those names to Juliens? And how does she find someone who will be able to do a good job (meaning - an authenticator not in favor of either party but an honest/knowledgeable opinion on the sigs). And go that route first or, use Jams first or? I just don't know myself.
has ANYONE else received a refund?
they kept $70 of my payment but refunded the rest....curious to hear how everyone elses struggle is going?
what is your lot number, did you have to go through arbitration, and why did they keep $70? thank you
892 & 914 i just called and emailed a few times and got a refund. not sure why they kept the $70 but was just happy to get the majority back. I kept steve in the loop on this but wanted to know if others were successful as well.
