Hello everybody!!
I absolutly love when members here at AML post examples of beautiful autographs that they have in their collection. So I thought I should start a thread where everyone who wants, can post a photo of their favorite autograph and maybe write some info about why you especially like this one!
Hopefully some members will chip in!! :-)
Ok, I´ll start:
My favorite autograph is a 10x8 photo signed by Bruce Springsteen and Little Steven, Max Weinberg, Roy Bittan, Clarence Clemons & Gary Tallent from The E Street Band:
I wanted this so bad when I first saw it, because I´m a huge fan of Springsteen. But unfortunally me economy usually sucks, so it took me a long time to save up enough money to buy it. And every day that went by, I were worried that someone else would buy it before me. So when I finally bought it, I were extremely happy!!! :-)
Someone else??
PS. Sorry if this has been done recently, but I can´t remember seeing a simular thread. I know that there is a thread about the rarest autograph, but that´s not the same thing... :-)

I just purchased this, and if I`m right about the Joe D. sig this is now one of my new favorites. Im a huge Feller fan and this is a nice piece.

Some killer pieces on this thread! This is one of my favorites on the sports side of my collection. One of Joe DiMaggio's diary pages. Mine talks about going to the White House, signing of treaty with Gorbachev, and signing a ball with Ronald Regan. Written on Sheraton Bal Harbour letterhead, came with his phone bill. I framed it with a picture of him and a capsule of dirt from old Yankee Stadium. Got from Steiner not long after they obtained the diary.

My favorite is the Karen Elliott autograph album. Waited awhile for this to surface. I'm told she worked as a secretary @ Parlophone and also was a "gal-friday" at studio sessions, so she met a lot of musicians. It's a small album, pages are 4" x 5".
It has signatures of each of the Beatles, 3 of the Stones (Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Bryan Jones) as well as each of the Hollies and each of the members of Gerry and the Pacemakers (the last 2 groups signed first names only under their band heading(s). It also has the Monotones and others. There are inserts from Chuck Berry and CARL PERKINS (one of the Beatles early influences)
For safety and security reasons (and because it's starting to separate at the spine) I keep the original in a bank vault and a copy at home. Wondering how others deal with display/security issues?

I have a favourite item - a Gordie Howe game used hockey stick - and I want to get it signed. He's in my city for an autograph signing in the coming weeks, but guess what? The company that's hosting this event (for several other sports figures as well) is charging what will amount to about $400 for him to sign my stick. I'd rather set up a display by buying his signed photo or something and framing everything together now. Too bad.

I work in part of the concert industry, so I've been to many shows over the years, hung out backstage, etc., but have never gotten anything signed because it's just not appropriate if you're there in a professional capacity. It's just NOT DONE, and my corner of the industry, you'll torpedo your ability to get access if you do. As a result, I've been around celebrities, had potential opportunities and just bit my tongue, even though I dig autographs. A signature is nice but keeping a roof over my head is better.
I visited the 2011 tour by the Mike Love/Bruce Johnston version of The Beach Boys and got to know some of their staff and crew, who introduced me to the guys (Johnston was awesome to shoot the bull with; Love was guarded but polite). As I left, my main contact said 'Man, you shoulda brought something to get signed since you're such a fan; they'd be totally cool with that. Next time, man.'
When the 2012 50th Anniversary tour came up, I dropped them a line and asked if the offer to bring something was still open, or was it inappropriate now with the merging of the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson camps. No, it was fine, but now I was faced with a dilemma - get Pet Sounds signed, since it's the obvious choice, or my favorite Beach Boys record, Surfin' Safari? I couldn't decide, so I brought both and figured the heat of the moment would force my decision, much as flipping a coin tells you what you really want. When got there and told this to my main contact, he laughed and said, "Hell, why not get both signed?" So I did.
Pet Sounds is safely sealed up in a poly bag now, and Surfin' Safari is framed on my wall. Incidentally, I took this photo with the Instagram iPhone app, so the album isn't all dark and muddy like that; it's actually in great shape, and the app just processed it to look like that. For me, the signatures are significant not only 'cause it's the freakin' Beach Boys, but also because I broke the rules for once, with no repercussions—and if you're gonna break the rules, Brian Wilson's scrawl is worth doing it for.
