ummm!!!   Is it a signed Harry Potter you're after or a J K Rowling sig?  regards

I guess that means it's a fake :)

IMO - I don't think it is genuine. It would be wonderful if it was at that price!!!.  There are a few on e bay that look as if they are  genuine but they are a lot more money .

Hope this helps.

There's a seller on Alibris with many "signed copies".  http://www.alibris.com/stores/bookbid8  or  http://www.rareantiquarianbooks.com/

Do they look any good?  According to an email from them:  "We are experts in identifying Rowling’s signature. We do consulting work for ebay and for JKR’s Army, which is the leading website for Rowling collectors. Google jkrsarmy and see the references to us as the leading expert for identifying Rowling forgeries"

I found this when I searched for JKR's Army  http://www.jkrs-army.com/

hi again.  Had a quick look at all the links.

In my opinion avoid link one.

Link 2 is more the kind of organisation that you want but it doesn't have professional membership to UACC or The Manuscript society &  this org from what I can see only exists in  USA/not worldwide.  Its looks a bit like a closed shop which is what you don't want in case there is a problem & you need to get your money back.  I'm not inferring you would  but you want to have as many  balls in your court in case there is a prob.  I've unfortunately learnt that the hard way

Link 3 looks fine  & you might meet some fellow collectors; - but when I pressed on the contact us button I did notice the legal disclaimer which I've never seen before on one of these sites .  I couldn't work out if you have to pay to join this site either

Whoever you  purchase from you must get it checked independently from an accredited organization before you buy for obvious reasons

One or two of the auction houses here sometimes has genuine signed  books of hers up for sale so I could let you know if I saw something suitable but it is expensive.  I think there is an auction coming up next month

Hope this helps

I thought all JK book signatures come with her offiical affixed hologram affixed to the book.  At least that what I got when I went to her NYC book signing, but maybe that is only at official signings.  If I were you, thats what I would look for.  According to her, its the only way to know it is genuine.

Thanks Michelle for all your insight.  I really appreciate it and yes, it would be great if you let me know if you come across one.

Steve - I believe the hologram only started happening a couple of years ago.  I have a copy of "The Casual Vacancy" signed w/ hologram

yep the holographs ones are for some of the more recent ones . However, I've also seen some  with fake holograms which look ever so authentic.  Didn't like 'The Casual Vacancy' at all !!!

Haven't read it yet... or the other one she ghost wrote.

Anyway to tell a fake hologram from a real one?  Now I'm worried mine's fake :)

 Hi

From what I can remember the more recent H P books  have  individual holograms to stop forgery so if it is a more recent HP  purchase you're probably fine.

Have you got a COA with it?  When and where did you buy it?  Her sig has changed over the years so does the style of the sig match  the year it was supposed to be signed if you see what I mean ?.

As I've said before she rarely signs nowadays so you need to be really careful when you buy anything of hers

Hope this helps

Thanks!  This is the original listing.... says it was signed at a show in London
