What are your thoughts on this jersey? This was bought by a friend of mine many years ago. It was supposed to have come with a COA, but she never received it. Is it worth sending to PSA/DNA???

Thanks,

Danny

Need a better pic/angle, snap a pic from right above it.

Jerseys are hard to say sometimes.  But from this angle I don't like Mickey at all.  Mantle has a few good things I look for.

The "Mickey" looks atrocious but the autograph could easily be authentic as the "Mantle" looks OK. A forger would likely have just discarded this one and wrote off the cost of the jersey so I expect it is authentic.

Mickey took pride in always giving a nice autograph but if he messed up the starting "M" on a jersey, he really had no way to make it right.

If it had been a ball, he would have likely pulled another one out and replaced it but jersies were much more expensive and he probably wouldn't have had another one to sign anyway.

Not sure if you can get it certified by a 3rd party or not. Maybe try the PSA/DNA "Quick Opinion" for $10 before laying out a hundred on it.

If authentic, it has decent value but due to the messy "Mickey", it will fall far short of the typical value for a Mantle autograph jersey of $2500+.

It still may be a grand to the right collector if authenticated.

That looks legit to me, and I'm with Randy, The Mick was very conscientious about signing autos.  Which means not only do I think that's a legit mantle auto...but the Mick was probably ticked off about that first M when he signed it.

Still waiting on a better "aerial" view of the autograph in question.

Thank you all very much for your comments. My friend already sent the jersey to PSA/DNA to get authenticated. I will update this post and add a better picture when she receives it from PSA.
