It could have been signed in 2003 but just ask him by who as it wasn't the same Muhammad Ali that I collect

100% fake

look at www.aliautos.com...  shawn anderson said he could not render an opinion because of the way the scan was.. so there is a good chance it is REAL.  match up this ali signature with examples of his 2003 signature.. let me know. thanks, James

i went ahead and bought this item for $500.. it looks REAL to me..  James

i wonder what Mike FRost would say about this ali signed robe..  James

Here is an authentic, in-person Ali autograph in my personal collection. It's a cell phone pic. The actual 11x14 photo is in pristine condition with no discoloration. As you can see the 'm' in your autograph is off.

Did you get this personally? Cause I don't think this would pass psa

Here is the item in question:

James, with one person saying "100% fake", and the seller having the nonchalant "comes with COA" without mentioning the COA on this type of high priced item, I would get several more opinions before you pay...

I would say considering the signing surface (clothing) and the signing utensil (thick marker), it would almost be impossible to authenticate something like this.

Even if it is authentic. Why would you want to pay that kind of $$$ for an autograph that is blurry and smeared??

Hi James,

Since you asked for my opinion here in a private message, I'm happy to give it, but I'm not an Ali authority of any kind. I am not comfortable that this autograph is genuine. I would either get a quick opinion from PSA/DNA before you buy it (less than $10), and then get it fully certified if it passes, or talk to other boxing dealers or specialists. You can get a reliable opinion for free from Travis Roste at www.autographplanet.com, but I would not rely on the opinions of members of that site that are not boxing specialists.

If you bought it already, and Travis feels it's not genuine, a quick opinion from PSA/DNA that also says it's likely not genuine will probably be needed for a refund through eBay under the terms of their buyer's guarantee. It should at least make it quick and easy.

Hope that helps.

James I am a very large collector of Ali I have nearly 60 items in my collection and like I said earlier it might have been signed in 2003 but it was ali that signed the robe. Sorry but you have wasted your money. If it was real and listed for $500 don't you think that someone like me who collects or a dealer which could see how much of a bargain it was would have snapped it up the first time it was listed.
