I think the one of Edge playing the guitar looks off to me, although im non expert on him. The others are beyond my skill. The Wood, if a forgery, looks good compared to most i see though. But i do find it a little odd that all these signatures are on the same style of paper. I certainly understand if they are form an autograph book or were all acquired at the same time, or near the same time, but if these are supposedly from a stretched time period, and not part of an autograph book, then i find that a little strange. But hey, thats just me. I no thats not an indicator of authenticity at all.
Its just something i watch for. I have seen several sellers in the past stick to using a certain style of paper for there autographs. And these were not part of an autograph book and were acquired over many years. They were very shaky though, and it was obvious the sellers were using that style of paper b/c it was optimal for tracing authentic signature examples.
These dont look traced to me, so it would be interesting to know the story on where they came from and how they were acquired. But im pretty sure Rich is extremely knowledgeable on U2 graphs and he will be able to tell for sure on the Edge's.
I saw #1 and #3 on eBay and suspect that they are printed reproductions of authentic signatures. The seller is offering a number of signatures that are all on this same paper stock. That includes a Paul McCartney signature in which the signature itself looked good to me. It was subsequently removed by eBay.
Ronnie woods not for me don
Thanks for helping!
I looked a little more at the seller of the indexcards and it might be a classic case of "if it looks to good to be true, it probably is"...
The seller says that he has "collected them myself" and that "many were obtained in-person" as you can see here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321383554280?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&a...
When looking at his feedback he has sold A LOT of high class autographs for very low prices. It is always very fine examples and often a nice inscription too. Not just a rushed signature like what most in-person collectors usually gets!
For example, he has sold:
- Freddie Mercury for £75: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58697&am...
- Britney Spears for £5,50
- Axl Rose for £7
- Gene Simmons for £9
- Angus Young and Brian Johnson for £12
- Simon and Garfunkel for £9
- Fully signed U2 album for £24
and on and on it goes...
Please have a look and let me know what you think!
