An odd Ringo?

I came across this Ringo earlier today.

The "Ringo" itself looks reasonably OK to me but I thought he signed his name in full at the time this photo was taken. What there is of the signature looks vintage to me.

Can anyone help?

Ringo started using the "*" after his name around 1992...doesn't look right to me...
