I've seen some "P" '88 but none where he wrote his full name and then '88.   I don't have a ton of faith in Juliens after the whole Michael Jackson debacle.  Any opinions?

Strange stuff going on. Same auction for this one, where they believe the asking price will go for $2000.00. What in the world is going on?  http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/134/lot/57141/?...

What gives people? Wouldn't this stuff sell as high as 15K? ..time will tell.   http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/134/lot/57142/?...

The auction hasn't taken place yet -- Juliens is just giving estimates so no one knows what they will eventually sell for unless you can predict the future.   There is no "strange stuff" going on with these lyrics.   The original posting asked about his signature on the program.   I would never pay 15 grand for partial Prince lyrics anyway.

Hi Bruce,

I am no expert, and when dealing with Prince, i would always ask Roger Epperson first, even if it comes from a prestigious auction house.

Personally, i think this autograph is genuine, and a very nice example. It definetly is cool in that he included his symbol on the LP. Or at least i think thats his symbol. I dont have many examples of the period of time when he signed using just that weird symbol, but i think that thats what that marking is beside the 88, and not the "P" that he sometimes signed with around that period. Ill include a couple of the "symbol" autographs for comparison. I cant guarantee these are legit, but it something to look at though.

I think the signature itself looks textbook for the time. Bjarne has some cool examples signed in 88 as well, and around that time Prince still seemed to be signing his full name at times, intermingled with the "P" signature, and maybe even some "symbol" autographs. The "Love God" looks good to me and pretty textbook. The connections all look solid. The actual Prince signature looks good too. The R is a little unusual, as it kind of looks like he stopped the upstroke and then finished the rest of it, but on a closer inspection, it seems to me that the R forming upstroke was actually looped around forming the rest of the R, which is typical of the examples i have. Prince typically made that loop pretty noticeable, but in this instance he just did it really compact and tight in my opinion.

The "symbol", if that is indeed what it is, i cant really comment on, but ill post a few examples of what may be legit symbols. The 88 also looks about right. All the 88 examples i have seen show a pretty strong slant to the right on the upstroke. Typically the first 8 doesnt have such a big loop, from what i have seen, but it still looks right to me. Overall i think its authentic and a great piece.

Here are a few 88 examples:

And here are a few "symbol" autographs. I cant confirm authenticity 100 percent, but its all i have currently

The ones you posted look slightly different from these two which I'm certain are good. Both Epperson approved.  The program in the initial post is almost "too nice" (or too good to be true).

And the other Epperson approved one.
