Paid for the PSA quick peek and it came back "Likely not authentic" but they don't say why they think that.

Any update or new info on Gridiron Authentics? They haven't sold on ebay since this came down. Are they selling somewhere else? I see their stuff on the secondary market all the time. They flooded the market with fake Montana, Aikman, Barry Sanders, Bart Starr, Joe Namath and many more autographs.

Nothing I can really go into right now other than to say that they are thus far refusing to comply with the requests of 2 State Attorney General's offices.

I made a call to one of the AG's offices on Friday and he sounded a bit pissed that Joe has not responded after a month or lived up to an agreement.

Clearly, Joe Lamothe is a crook, and I am not afraid to write this. Months ago, after I spoke with one AG's office and they spoke to E-bay, Joe either took down his site or E-bay did. I  am inclined to believe Joe did since BOTH AG's offices were interested in viewing his sites. The fact that he went underground so fast and takes months to respond to any Attorney General's office request and basically LIES to the AG, should tells everyone all they need to know about this guy and his companies.

Can't go into more detail right now, but once this matter is resolved (if it gets resolved without court action) I will post the full facts to try and help anyone else who got ripped off by Gridiron.

in the meantime, I would be VERY cautious of ANYTHING that has a cert from ANY of Joe Lamothes business operations.

Although both of the gridiron Ebay accounts (could be more under unknown names) have disappeared, I have seen the amount of Gridiron items from other sellers increasing quite a bit. I wouldn't doubt for one second if they moved their location and started again. Too much money involved to just walk away.

I agree 100%. I also reported this to the AG's offices. They said this would require filings in each of the states these individuals are operating in by someone who was actually impacted.

If I were to post all my research on this, you would think this was Operation Bullpen Gridiron style!

Charlie,

I have long said this scam ran into 7 figures. Their COA SHOULD be put on the ebay banned list. I had been telling people for at least 5 years they were selling bad stuff and most people wouldn't listen. I hope you get a resolution for your losses.

You can request full details on why psa thinks it is not authentic.  You have to write them and then they will provide you all of the authenticator notes on the opinion

No need to waste your money on TPA's. I already did that. 6 helmets bought over a 7 year period ALL failed. I wouldn't waste my time or money buying anything from any gridiron related entity or any entity selling anything with a gridiron COA. Might as well sign the thing yourself.

Everthing I had failed as well which is what prompted me to get my money back and start the process with the AG office in Pennsylvania.
Barnhollow on eBay represents itself as the official seller for Celebrity Authentics on eBay. Because of the close association between Celebrity Authentics and Gridiron Authentics, what does everyone think? They have been dumping out large amounts of celebrity autographs, the same items they sell on their website for much more. Repeatedly.

from what i was told celebrity authentics is no longer connected to gridiron. they seperated a few years ago

Not from what I found. Celebrity Authentics is still owned by Joe Lamothe according to State legal records.

Of course they want to distance themselves. I was able to get Gridiron thrown off Ebay thanks to help from the NY and PA AG's offices. My research shows that he supposedly has some celebrities on exclusives with Celebrity Authentics but it's only a matter of time before he starts his scam again.  Another Forum member believes he even found the new distributor for his sports forgeries.

So, the Celebrity Authentics stuff is fake? Or real. Some items they were offering on eBay were CGC enclosed in plastic. Those are authentic?
