I normally trust PSA/DNA on Ruth and maybe they are correct but I would not buy this one if I was looking for a Ruth autograph. It looks so far off from any legitimate examples I have ever seen that I would not want it in my collection. Certainly, not a classic Ruth autograph. I can't believe they have an exemplar in their files that match this one so I have no idea how they could authenticate it. As previously stated, most of the letters are way off in my opinion.

Randy, I totally agree, in fact, I just wrote an email about his, and said the exact same thing.  Not one letter looks correct to me.

You could be right.....i emailed josh evans ceo of lelands and he's saying it is authentic and that it was mostly done in a hurry. The fact that ruth was for sure there that night on the 29th and the other autos on it are legit why would ruths' be any different???

it can be justified any way that anyone wants to spin it.  when you see hundreds of Ruth autographs, all fairly consistent with each other, and this atrocity, I can certainly understand why certain people would doubt it. and that doubt will always be there.

the other signatures are authentic?  could be, but I have never heard of any of them.

Ya you have a good point. Just dont understand how psa could or would authenticate it. Makes no sense

Certainly, it makes sense that the Ruth autograph could be authentic based on his attendance at the event but how much influence did that have on the authentication. Autographs should stand on their own merit based on known authentic exemplars.

At best, it is not a nice example of Ruth. I have no idea what the price is but you can sometimes find a nice authenticated cut for about $2K and I can't imagine that this one is a lot less than that.

I would hold out for a nicer example if you are looking to keep the autograph in your collection but that is obviously just an opinion.

If you trust the authenticator and like the item, go for it and enjoy it. The bottom line is with that slab the item will likely be sellable in the future whether it it truly authentic or not.

Any auction house will run it in that slab which gives any buyer a sense of security.

I just did some research.  yes, he was there as he got an award.  Strong was a NY Giants player, and his auto does check out.  I wish I could envision the situation that would force Ruth to have signed like this.  too much booze??

Lol...probably! Thats why i think it might be legit. the "ruth" doesnt look that far off. It couldve been a quick auto or weird angle...who knows but he was probably wasted..lol
Normally, I would say no, not authentic. Many of the letters don't look quite right. The slant looks way off. And yet, I believe this is likely authentic. I think you have to consider where he was at, and what he was signing. In this situation, at this dinner, the Babe may have felt rushed to sign. Plus, he was signing a very small piece of paper. For all we know, the signee may have been holding it while Ruth signed it.

What and where can greatly affect the outcome of an autograph. And a less-than-normal slant does not always mean an autograph is not authentic. I've looked at my own past signatures, and they definitely are never exactly the same. There are similarities. But even the slant is a little different sometimes on my own signature. So yes, I think it's likely authentic, especially since you've established that he was at this event.

Saw this on eBay for a decent price and thought it looked slightly odd as well. But it does have speed and some positive characteristics I have learned to look for. No Babe expert here, but I do think it's likely authentic and would trust PSA/DNA's opinion on this one.

Im thinking the same thing but Ive just never seen that style of "B" before. Like you guys said considering where he was signing he couldve been rushed and plus its a small area to write on. I know the other autos are legit on it.  Still puzzled by it though
