Pawn Stars

Has anyone seen the recent pawn stars episode that showed some guy trying to sell a terrible forged "lost poem" from jimi hendrix, Drew from aaunlimited.com examined it and almost immediatley deemed it not genuine

At first glance of it,i was in histerics   its the worst hendrix forge i had ever seen,the guy said he got it from jimis family....riki hendrix?   what a bs story 

It was even funnier listening to the pawn stars owner give a history on jimi,saying he played the star spangled banner with his teeth at woodstock,...This guy needs to read some books and watch some dvds on jimi

atleast he knew enough to call a expert in,  its my opinion that aaunlimited is a good authenticator,as well as roger epperson,jsa,psa/dna,ama authentication

It would have been funny if christopher morales showed up to examine the forged hendrix poem on pawn stars,he would have probabley said it was genuine

Who ever forged it should get a job at autographs america,autograph central or pop culture signatures   im sure they can use another terrible forger(not that there are any good forgers out there,)

The show also showed Bob Dylan signing a album for chumlee and has had a few other autographs that were real(except for the fake hendrix poem)

I don't have a problem with it being staged or people being interviewed.  However, when it comes to signature authentication, regardless of whom, there should also be a lead time so you don't walk in thinking one thing and get "but" what about this other one!.

 

It makes for good entertainment and have had family mbrs on the antique road show and their goods are identified in advance to determine if there would be a spot on the broadcast.  However, there the experts have some lead time albeit limited  to do some homework,

 

Thus, just call me an idiot   lol

R&R sold one almost exactly like it but without the inscription for about 4000 and from what I could tell the signatures were almost a match different placement on the card but it looked real to this untrained eye against the RR one!  He got lucky! But Drew did tell him to cut off the inscription?

Yeah.  The inscription is obviously written with a different pen.   Said it was likely not written by Ruth.

Are you guys ready for the best Jimi Hendrix story in a long time?

My friend owns a company called ROCK STAR GUITARS. They don't do autographed guitars. He sells instruments The Who played (and told me, DO NOT ever buy a guitar that's broken from someone that says Townshend smashed it in concert). Just like he did at Woodstock, before tossing it to the crowd -- Who management always went out and retrieved the instruments, usually giving a small amount of money to the person.

Anywhooo...he's sold some instruments for $500,000 that Hendrix owned, even won a super long lawsuit from the Hendrix estate (and then got a letter they had to sign, stating that the guitar was a Hendrix axe). Well, some rock museum in Nashville Tennessee wanted to display it, so he shipped it over. There was a huge hurricane or something, and the city got flooded. The guitar was completely distroyed by water. All bent up and everything.

 

So, guess what happens? The insurance company doesn't want to pay what it's worth. They tried claiming a Hendrix guitar was only worth $40,000 or something, when he had sold two guitars previously for $500,000 and another for $700,000.

 

And...best story I have with him -- we were at a party, and he got a call from George Benson. Benson owns a trumpet that was Miles Davis', engraved to him, too. He wanted to know if my friend would sell it, but wanted a million dollars for it. Yikes! My friend told him he probably wouldn't be able to get that.

unfortunately.... well pawn star's uses him so he "must" be ok!  Did someone say, "oye"!

 

didn't we have something around here on an album or picture that was sold that wasn't sold that ended up back at the original place.   Seems I saw a TomTresh2 (fuzzy) piece on it.

I believe that was the jersey allegedly signed by Lou Gehrig.  Had COA's from STAT.

 

Rick wound up buying the Ruth signed photo for $1100.

He can put that with the Evil Knieval arcade game alongside the "authentic" indian child beaded shirt.  Better yet - let chumley have it.

 

Then again Drew told him to cut the bottom inscription off but what does one do with the top half that has the "to" inscription.  I loved the analysis given by drew on the signature lol

did you guys see when chumlee got bob dylan to sign the album the bald guy bought?

chumlee wasnt supposed to get it inscribed but he did,(i dont think dylan wouldnt just sign his name without inscribing)

chumlee got to keep the signed dylan album,the bald guy could have sent it to a paper restorer and he could have safely removed the inscription,it would have cost 100 dollars or so,then he could sell the album for around 800 to 1000 dollars.go to www.chameleonrestoration.com and you will see what i mean,sometimes if it was just signed you could rub off the inscription with a lightly damp towel.

It was all set up for the show.  Chumlee just happens to be in the right place at the right time and nobody else is around.  Funny thing is that Dylan signed the album upside down.
