Hi,

I keep buying LP frames and figuring out quickly that they are generally not safe for my autographed album covers due to a number of reasons but primarily the glass resting directly on the cover itself.  I see that bagsunlimited.com has some options that won't break the bank (these aren't very high dollar albums i'm framing).  I'm wondering if you guys would recommend their frames and also if you would suggest one over the other?  I'm specifically looking at the matted frame vs. their "archival LP frame kit".  The archival version appears to still rest directly on the cover itself but has a sheet of mylar between the  polystyrene and the album cover. - Though my albums may not be fully signed Beatles or Stones albums, they still have some value and i'd like to keep them fairly safe (I am aware to keep out of sunlight, remove the record itself, etc).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I've never had issues with the glass touching the album. I buy my frames from Hollywood poster frames. They use all archival material and have uv protected non-glare glass that really makes a huge difference when viewing autographs. Always get the non-glare (museum) glass.

Looks effective.
That's an awesome display. I'm jealous.. you have some great signed LPs

Another good website to go to for good Record Frames is www.framemyrecord.com I ordered one with a mat included for my signed Runaways record and it came out great. All of their frames are "UV 45% Clear View Glass or UV 99% Conservation Clear Glass"

Here's the outcome of my Record.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the feedback! This is very helpful!
Hi guys, even though this is a custom job,I thought I'd show how I have a bunch of my albums framed.double matted with the album floating on mighty mounts with museum glass.

Wow that looks great! You usually only see black frames with albums but that fits the album colors very well
I should add that the reason why I'm worried about the glass touching the album cover is because there are a lot of posts regarding the autographs sticking to the glass and can ruin the autographs. I emailed frame my record.Com about it and they said that they haven't seen that happen with glass but it could happen with styrene or plexiglass. They then said, however, that they couldnt/wouldn't guarantee that it wouldnt happen with their archival frames.
I've never heard of that happening, and I've framed and swapped albums around for 10+ years. It could be a humidity thing, but you shouldn't be storing autographs in high humidity anyway.
Thanks Mike, that's really what I was hoping to hear. I just don't want to make a rookie mistake and start off ruining atuff.

It's pretty difficult to remove sharpie ink from a porous surface, the biggest concern you should have is UV damage. Keep away from sunlight and fluorescent light even if you use UV treated glass.
