G'day everyone,

Folks - I kid you not ... the greatest cultural icons in Australian history .... Dame Edna Everage (the eiptome of style, grace and charm), Sir Les Patterson (greatest ever Australian Ambassador and foreign minister) and Barry Humphries (who ????).

Okay - enough of the b******t :)

Seriously, Mr Barry Humphries is not only an incredible actor, entertainer, TV personality, author and Australian historian he is one of the few celebrities that has created multiple (not to mention highly successful persona).
Barry's most well-known alter-egos are "Dame Edna Everage" and "Sir Les Patterson" and so he is one of the few people who SIGN AUTOGRAPHS USING THREE DIFFERENT NAMES !!
As we say down here ... you little ripper :)
For your enjoyment and, perhaps, education here are the latest exemplars that I have from these great Aussie icons - signatures as of 10th January 2014 :
Note the hesitations, tremors and pressure points in Sir Les's autograph - a good way to tell that it is legitimate. If you see an autograph from Sir Les that is smooth and flawless it is defintely "iffy" because that would mean you caught him sober ..... ain't gonna happen :)
Goodonya
David

Sort of like Sacha Baron Cohen, I suppose.  Depending on the persona, you could get a completely different autograph.

Yup - it's really neat :)

David

I was fortunate enough to meet Barry in Bristol at the stage door and got him to sign two photo's one of himself and one of Sir Les and it is a smoothish autograph, I was hoping to get him to sign a poster I had but it turned out that he didn't have a copy of it so I have given it to him and he is going to send me something personal to Sir Les will let you know how I go

Hi Paul, that is absolutely terrific :) Do let us know what Barry sends you - I bet it will be something really nice :) All the best, David.

Thanks, David. Interesting read.

Great article. I saw Barry as Dame Edna back in the 1990's here in Dublin. Absolutely hilarious. Definitely on my ' to get list' of comedians. A true comedy legend!

Hello there David this is Paul Laughlin I have finally got around to putting the items that Mr Humphries signed for me onto this site. You were right in saying that he would send something special, he certainly came up trumps for me as he sent me a tie that was worn for about 20 minutes or so in the film really chuffed what a gent
