The reason I love vinyl so much is not simply the audio, which doesn't sound as compressed as digital but the art accompanying the vinyl where artists who take creative control over their work.

This is Third man records Jack white founder, The Dead Weathers Test press given away at invite opening night in Nashville.

Its hand painted by Alison Mosshart of the dead weather. Each band member had 20 to create 4 members 100 made. The boys in the band Jack even shot bullet holes in some of their covers.

Alison signed it baby ruthless thats her pseudonym.

I have the set list from the bands first show and photo strip is in picture above. They did 100 photo both shots for the album.

Jack white has created art with this Dead weather triple decker record, its a 12 inch inside is a 7 inch they both play but you have to crack it open to get to the single inside. Jack white has got a whole new generation collecting vinyl and that means the kids wont be lining up to get there ipods signed by band members.

My nephew walked past me as I was about to play a record. He said that's a big cd!

Moving away from third man records, this is an Australian band called the Hard ons Ray the bass player does all the art work for the albums. This is hand drawn and signed in 10 years it will be worth 4 dollars and 50 cents.

Sonic youth signed this record with little doodle by Kim and Steve drew the line arrow around it. Cool piece.

This is the best album cover in the world Australian band Cosmic psychos. Butch Vigg produced one of thir albums and the boys used to play with the like of Nirvana, The Melvins all the Seattle bands. Im just giving them a plug.

The photography is much better than pink floyds covers cmon.

Bob marley  catch a fire record in a zippo lighter. I don't own this one yet its on the wish list.

Jim keays of The Masters Apprentices painted this before the other band members decided to use it for the album cover.
