Dear all
Is there anybody who tried to get AC/DC during this tour? Do they have a base here in Europe where they fly in to the show and out direkt after or do they stay in hotels in the area? Where would be best to try to gett hem?

Thanks in advance
Ulf

The band stayed 3 nights here in Helsinki, but Brian, Angus and Cliff still only signed once, on the day before the show, and nothing after that.

Chris Slade and Stevie Young were outside a few times each day and signed happily.

That's weird... Were there many fans at the hotel waiting for them on other days? As far as I know, they've stayed in Helsinki for 5 days - from Tuesday 'till Saturday morning. It seems it's not a general rule anymore that they will sign everytime, even though Angus is still one of the easiest and most approachable rockstars.

That's correct, they stayed from Tuesday afternoon till Saturday morning, so 4 nights in all.

When they first arrived only Brian signed a few (with a shortened "Brian J."). A little later the whole group left to a restaurant. There Angus and Stevie would come outside for a smoke, but only Stevie signed. Angus said he would only sign at the hotel.

On their return to the hotel Angus did sign for all the dozen or so people there, Cliff signed for some and Brian (who was pretty drunk) signed only few (but full name this time). As the whole band arrived at the same time, pretty much nobody had a chance to pay attention to Chris Slade or Stevie Young.

Afterwards, we'd see Angus outside on the terrace many times, but he wouldn't sign even if it was just 2 or 3 people, same with Brian, and Cliff didn't even come out once. Things have definitely changed since the Black Ice tour, when Angus would sign at least one each every time you saw him.

Stevie Young would also come outside for a smoke now and then and also went for walks. He seemed very relaxed about signing and even gave guitar picks to anybody who asked.

Chris Slade was outside many times as well, but with him you had to choose your spot more carefully as clearly he didn't want to attract attention.

The band used the garage to leave for the gig and the airport, so that made things even more difficult.

Thanks for nice story, Mikael! Maybe you could share photos of your autographs with us?

Thank God hotel in my city didn't have a garage! :) But even though they've left through the side door, they didn't sign at all on the way to the gig. I guess it's their policy nowadays - they don't sign on the way to the show. The best time to get them is on their first arrival to the hotel. In total, we had under 24 hours to get them which was not easy and actually Stevie Young was probably the only one who didn't sign at all, or at least I didn't see him signing for anybody.

Does Brian sign his full surname anymore? All autographs I've got from him are "Brian John", never seen him signing "Johnson" on this tour...

I will try and get some things scanned soon.

I would consider the ones you got from Brian "full name" signatures. Some of the ones I saw weren't just rushed, but the last name was deliberately shortened to just one letter and a dot.

Still all of them always added the "AC/DC" below their signature, which must be something they've agreed on. Chris Slade even added that to stuff from other bands (e.g. Uriah Heep).

Can't wait! How many items did you get signed by them in Helsinki?

Yeah, I've always wondered why they'are adding "AC/DC" to all of their signatures... And if they sign without it in private time.

Below is example of "full" Brian Johnson signature although I haven't seen much of them in recent years:

In Stockholm Angus, Cliff and Brian did sign when they arrived at the hotel. As said before Angus did sign for every one, and even more than one per person. Brian and Cliff very few. The ones that I got on my "For those..." all had AC/DC under the name. I did a second Angus and that one was with out the AD/DC under. During the stay in Stockholm (Sat-Tues). Angus did come out and signed and so did Stevie. Brian and Stevie whent out for dinner and did sign a few when they came back. At the time of the show they all left the hotel via the garage.

Robert, very nice signatures.
