Signed through the mail, by his secretary.
Many thanks Pete .
There has got to be a way to educate and inform these celebrities that these types of phantom and secretarial autographs is deceitful and defeats the purpose of why a fan writes to a celebrity. With the same effort it takes to respond with a "fake signed photo" a sent letter informing the requestor that , "I am sorry, but, X/X does not sign fan requests", would be the appropriate gesture of respect.
The question then becomes, how can this be achieved?
How can the Al Pacino's of this word cease this practice?
In the grand reality of the world out there, Pacino is seen as a great guy who signs for his fans TTM, and usually in-person as well. It is only the serious autograph collector (those that would frequent these sites) and ask these questions, only we will ever know about secretarial signings. Ignorance is bliss.
We are but a tiny percentage of his fanbase, and if that larger group loves the fact that he signed for them TTM, he wins.
Its talked about "cleaning up" the autograph kingdom, step by step, with real and authentic signatures. Almost every thread on this website mentions such. It seems that TTM signatures signed by those other than the celebrity is yet another vein that a fan, while sleeping at night after opening his afternoon mail, is sleeping with a fake signature within his collection.
Clint Eastwood and Charlton Heston for years have had secretarial signatures sent via the mail. To me, its all part of the term deception.
As an autograph collector that does care, I agree with you completely. I am just looking at it the way they all likely do or did.
