PSA/DNA and JSA are two of the few I do trust for Sports Autographs. As with any autograph, the focus should be on the signature though, not the COA. I've gotten great deals on autographs with no COA at all that are 100% authentic and no company was present at the actual signing. 

Think about how many time a star signs their autograph...

Now think about how many of those times is there a company "witnessing" it...it is far more likely you will get one WITHOUT a witnessed COA, than with one.

And although these are merely "opinions", they can still be correct. I recommend studying the sig on your own, do your research, then share it on here and see what others think about it. Then decide.

It depends..... for sports athletes it makes way more sense to buy for example a Derek Jeter signed baseball with a Steiner COA and hologram on the ball than a Jeter ball with no COA from a guy who claims to have got it in person at say a game or spring training...

Just my opinion and feelings . . .

If you're asking whether PSA or JSA would dissuade me from buying an item, the answer is no (though I am not a big fan of either ugly sticker).  By the same token, neither brand of authentication makes me any more apt to make a purchase.  I still try to consider the signature itself, how well it matches up with known authentic exemplars and where it came from. 

One recent problem I've had with them is that both companies clearly "authenticate" purely based on the source of the autograph in some circumstances.  I feel that this is lazy and irresponsible, and it opens the door for some big mistakes and for less than honest collectors to take advantage of these companies.

I KNOW not to trust them! I own a major entertainment corp. and although I make celeb audiobooks and collect royalties we do SELL a product. All companies want your money and though I am not one, will do anything to get it. If you have to use a 3rd party, do not collect. These companies do NOT have any real experts looking at your autograph (they use low paid employees). PSA,JSA and others have CREATED a NEED but are not needed at all.

If you want McCartney, buy from someone you trust implicitly, preferably a document.....or do what I did and get it backstage (if you can gain access). All you are getting from PSA and pals is a cool plastic holder! I wanted the holder for a bunch of autos of a close friend who signed in front of myself and my VP. He also signed a contract to read. PSA sent them back as fakes. They did not even open one of the envelopes. I paid for quick and most expensive service. Now my attorney has them saying that there was a mistake and if I send them to PSA all autos will be given 2 thumbs up. Not very honest are they?! Lastly, McCartney's signature has changed quite a bit since the 80's-90's. It is not neat anymore. AW had one for sale, but the bidding was insane. Try Houle Rare Books and Manuscripts. They may have him in document form. Good Luck

Oh boy ladies and gentlemen. Craig Braginsky returns to AML!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone doesnt remember this guy, i suggest you search the forum for him.  Not only is he a liar, but he tried to promote Ledger forgeries in this thread:

He was laughed out of the forum for pretending to be a mega celebrity who was an R and R legend. He was shown to be a common liar and he was laughed out of the forums. Funny thing, in that same Ledger thread, Craig tries to trash PSA and the other authentication companies. And now he returns doing the same thing. Funny thing, Craig, who claims mega celeb status tried to sell fake Ledger graphs failed by PSA. 

Please have a read of the link above. Craig's b.s. is really amusing. Afterall, r and r legends always get ledger forgeries and have them authenticated by psa. Craig go back to you whole. You were exposed as a compulsive liar.

I suggest everyone visit the thread above where Craig first appears. I know alot of the content was deleted b/c it was just making Craig look like the fool he is. But i believe the links are the still their to some pages Craig was running. He didnt count on people doing research on him to determine he was a complete hack compulsive liar.

He was running several con sites. He tried to B.S. others that he was some star and encouraged everyone on his con sites to take free surveys. And if you took these free surveys youd get free autographed items from everyone from Paul Mac too U2. Of course you had to pay to be a part of all this action. With about 2 minutes worth of research Craig was found to be running these fraudulent sites and when he was called out, he tried to make up some unbelievable excuses, and i do mean unbelievable. So unbelievable that it even tops his unbelievably horrid resume.

Craig Braginsky is a compulsive liar, thats all. And his mistake was ever coming here with his lies. Now his name, obviously not real name but if he tries to use the Braginsky name, will come up on any google search. No longer will people be conned by falling for anything Craig Braginsky says. Not only that, but his account will now be actively looked for, and any future deceit revealed.

How bad is it, when an r and r legend gets laughed out of an autograph forum for being a pathetic liar. lol. Yep, i heard that Lennon did the same thing back in the day, right?? According to Craig its just typical R and R legend behavior.

This is truly a pathetic individual, probably with some learning disability. As his compulsive lying is even shocking among the sellers of horrid forgeries.

Just to add my two cents - last year at a card show in Vancouver, BC a known forger walked up to the PSA table with 100 signed autographs from various Hollywood "A-List" celebrities.

PSA passed 85% of them. When we asked the PSA guy about it later, he said that they go off "previous examples", pen strokes and a few other details (the way the autograph is tilted for a left or right handed person), etc.  Trusting your seller, or getting the item done yourself are sadly the only "true" ways to really have peace of mind with your autograph

Was this guy supposedly an in-person colector?  I'm surprised that PSA isn't keeping tabs on who the more shady sources in this hobby are.  That seems like it would be important info.

How did you get the 85% data? Did they let you watch and you counted them ?Did the PSA guy tell you that? Curious how you estimated the percentage on this.

I've often wondered how they could authenticate the number of submissions that they get on site. Last place I saw them it was just a submittion point.. They didnt actually do any authenticating there onsite.
