Earlier today I found this interesting item at a local thrift shop. I honestly know nothing about it other than it cost a little over $7. Just the ball itself was an interesting find but the signature makes it even more so. I looked around and I couldn't find anything so I was hoping someone on here might be able to tell me some thing about it. I'm going crazy wondering if it is in fact an actual autograph or even if it's nothing at all. At least I'll have the peace of mind knowing either way.

Looks like Fran Tarkenton, if it's authentic.  I'm not well versed in his autograph, but it certainly looks right at first glance.

IMO its fake. Compare to the known example i posted.

That looks like it's supposed to be Fran Tarkenton, but it definitely is a fake.
