Are these guys for Real? - John Wayne autograph $13,000!

I have watched for many years this dealer in Las Vegas selling autographs for 10-30 times value.  I remember I use to get his catalog and see such things as Bob Hope signed photo starting bid $999, WHAT?

Now he uses ebay primarily with items such as this John Wayne photo that would sell at a legitimate auction for about $1000, but History Direct prices at a bargain $13,000!  Really, I am curious, what are these guys thinking?

My opinion is...in this day and age, if anyone over pays for an autograph, it's really their own fault.

Try selling a John Wayne for 50K if you want. Hell, if you run a business, you want to make money. Now, if some huge Wayne fan comes along and wants to buy it...how hard is it for them to Google, and see that -- oh, this John Wayne went for a thousand. Oh, this one went for $3,000. Oh, there's a contract from The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, signed by him and John Ford. That went for $23,000. Hey, here's another person saying many of them are secretarial.
Oh, over here...a yearbook where he signs his real name -- Marion Morrison. That went for 10 grand.
But, quite a difference between a One-of-a-Kind, the ONLY, Original Liberty Valance contract (a historical document) and a "dime a dozen" Signed photo. AND, one that doesn't even look authentic.
