Hi Andy,
I too am a collector of blues autographs, and these are horrid forgeries. In my opinion that web site sells nothing but forgeries.
Happy holidays
Carl
Do they really sell this crap?
Hi Carl,
do you have a website? Mine is called www.bluesfan.at, there is a little section with pics of autographs, too, which I want to expand the next months. I was so lucky to get a lot of a German collector from the 60s, including guys like Little Walter, Skip James, Big Walter Horton, Earl Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson... I would be happy if you have any signatures to put on my website for being a source of information! I love to hear from you.
Wow Andy,
I am actually very familiar with your site. I put together a thread here on AML entitled "the great american blues players' or something like that where i tried to put together exmeplars from the blues guys, b/c authentic examples are so hard to find with some of these guys. I actually used several of the autographs displayed on your page as examples. I hope you dont mind.
I have drooled over some of your graphs, especially the Leadbelly signature. Good grief. Thats about as rare as rare can get. Are you familiar with a blues autograph seller named Larry, who goes by mrbebop? He always has some amazingly rare blues guys, but people know him well, and his graphs go for a premium on ebay. But anyway, i was talking with him one day, and he told me that he had Leadbelly on a signed 8 by 10. Thats just insane, but anything Leadbelly is insane. How did you get that signature? Do you mind telling how much you paid?? That is just amazing!!! But then again, so many of your other graphs are amazing too.
I will friend you, and would love to see some of your graphs. Could you possibly upload a pic of your skip james and earl hooker? I collect mainly the old blues guitarists, and have been looking for both those guys forever. You arent interested in selling them by any chance?
I have also been after Junior Kimbrough, Mississippi fred mcdowell, mississipi john hurt, sleepy john estes, mance lipscomb, james son thomas, just to name a few.
You have some truly amazing autographs and very valuable.
Take care, Carl
Here is a link to that thread i started. Please feel free to add any examples you want. I need to go back and add to i just have been lazy, lol

Hi Carl,
sorry for being back so late but I was too short on time the last days, so let me answer your questions: #1 of course you can take pics from bluesfan, that's one the reasons I made this page; it's a great honor anyway you like my bluespage. #2 I don't owe the Lead Belly signature, I also just used the graphic from an ebay purchase. #3: it was your thread that brought me to this forum and was the main reason to sign in - very very important for blues collectors, I'd really appreciate this excellent information. #4: Yes, I know Mr Bebop from several purchases, there is also another one (shjobr, Jerry Frasier from Cummings, GA) who's got historic pieces as well. #5: I will upload some graphics in the next weeks - it depends on my time -, in the meantime I'll send you some names: from an US-collection: Johnny Guitar Watson, Big Candy Maybelle (dated!), and Lowell Fulson, just to name 3 out of 14; even more interesting is a collection I recently got from a former German collector which includes:
Lightnin' Hopkins, Matt Guitar Murphy, Sonny Boy Williamson (AFBF 1963 Düsseldorf, Essen); Hubert Sumlin, Sunnyland Slim, John Henry Barbee, Howlin Wolf, Sleepy John Estes, Yank Rachell, Big Joe Williams (AFBF 1964 Essen); Little Brother Montgomery, Roosevelt Sykes, Sippie Wallace (AFBF 1966 Essen); Jack Myers, Otis Rush, Fred Below (1966, Wuppertal); Booker White, Hound Dog Taylor, Brownie McGhee, Son House, Skip James, Little Walter, Big Walter Horton, Curtis Jones, Jimmy Reed (Cologne 1967)
Whistlin' Alex Moore, Earl Hooker, Magic Sam, Carey Bell, Juke Boy BonnerCleaveland + Clifton Chenier, Mac Thompson (among others, Lüdenscheid/Hagen 1969); T-Bone Walker (from 1968)
A Jazz special: two signatures of Thelonious Monk – both from December 2nd 1969!!
All in person - that's the real stuff, thanks to Lippmann & Rau bringing such guys to Germany.
#6: Let me know what you are interested in, and we will work it out.
All the best from the Austrian bluesfan (not the only one, for god's sake) - Andy!
PS: I will be back also with commends on your thread.
Good gosh Andy,
Thats absolutely an amazing list. And i do mean absolutely amazing. Just wow!!! And thank you for letting me use your images, they really will help a ton of collectors, and i appreciate the words about the thread. I know it lacks alot, but there are just so few resources out there as you know for the blues guys.
I dont even know that id be able to afford them, but i am interested in numerous signatures you listed if they are for sale. I am really interested in the Sleepy John estes, yank rachell, hound dog taylor, son house, skip james, jimmy reed, earl hooker, and magic sam. If you would be interested in selling those, please let me know what price you were thinking of for each. I have been looking for some of those guys forever!!!
Thanks so much for coming here and look forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,
Carl
Oh yeah, i just sent you a friend request Andy so we can talk back and forth via private message.
Some of the most blatant forgeries on the planet.
