What are the blue dots all over and around the sig? The autograph looks authentic to me.
I think it's either smudging due to handling after it was signed or if the photograph was placed in a toploader too quickly after being signed. Either way, authentic signature.
authentic
Nice signature
I agree Mike! This is a 16 X 20...you never see that pose on a 16 x 20 and is highly coveted on 8 x 10 (rare shortstop pose) Has the #7 inscription. All in all, a nice cornerstone Mantle piece. Probably $250-$300 item
postage is 22.00, so I would be out on principal. It also takes up a lot of room to display and not everyone has it. I already have 6- 16 x 20 in my office....does the Lowly Mantle collector, the voice of reason, come out of retirement for this one? No Thanks.
It was 16x20. That is one reason why.
It was also being shipped from "parts unknown" Netherlands, Amsterdam...maybe that's why shipping was 22.95?
I just realized I purchased a Nice Mantle from the same seller a couple of years ago. You gotta pay for rare quality!!!Moral of the story is, Don't be tight screw...that's a one way ticket to purchasing a forgery. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
Very true; but regardless of size, I think $370 total for that photograph isn't worth it when you can get an unauthenticated Mantle baseball for around that price.
that particular photo in that size is a lot more scarce than a Mantle signed baseball. That is one reason why I think it when so high. I bid on it. But I wasn't gonna spend that much. Wish I could though. LOL>
I don't know the rarity of certain images, but the only reason I would justify the price it ended at was the fact it was a larger size photograph.
I still think autographs on baseballs should trump flats in price (baseballs, in my opinion, will always be better than flats regardless of the image). Personally, I am not a big fan of signed pictures, I'd rather have an item, but I guess if there's a market for these "rare" images I guess you could justify a high pricetag.
