Hi all,

I've gone and done it again, my wife keeps on telling me not to but I just couldn't resist.  I've taken a gamble and purchased an autograph that could be a turkey!

As any Blues collector out there knows authenticating some of these guys is just near on impossible, with sometimes only one or maybe two solid examples available.  Well for this particular person I have not been able to find a single decent example to compare it to.

James Isaac Moore A.K.A. Slim Harpo was a giant of the blues (b. 1924 - d. 1970), and Excello Records most famous artist (along with Lightnin Slim).  He had a number of successful hits in the late 50's and 60's and his songs have been covered by the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds and Pink Floyd, and because of all of this I would have thought there would be a number of autograph examples out there, but can I find one...no.

Below are some pictures of my piece.  The signature is pretty bold and is on the back of his 'Tip on in' album (the album is not a re-issue but the original release, with an old 'DJ' sticker on the front).  The additional information I have is:

Tip On In was released in 1968.

The album belonged to the DJ Dennis Frawley.

It is signed to the Detroit Radio Station WABX (WABX would have played the likes of Slim Harpo on their station in the late 60's).

Dennis Frawley was a DJ with WABX in 1969.

Slim Harpo played Detroit Grande Ballroom in June 1969.

So the back story and timelines all kinda add up, but this is a plea to all those great collectors and fans out there - can anyone tell me if this piece is genuine? And/or are there any other Slim Harpo examples (or any handwritting examples) out there?

I thank you all for your time.
