Cal Ripken Jr & Sr Autographs

I got these back in the 80s when I was kid. The Ripken Jr. auto on the '84 All-Star card was returned to me after about a 2 1/2-year wait. It was sent to his home address that was listed in a book that contained addresses of just about every player who ever played the game.

As for the other card, I sent it to Cal's dad via the address listed for the Orioles. I only expected to get Sr's autograph but it came back signed by both....assuming they actually signed them.

Can anyone offer any opinions on whether they think these are the real deal?

Fleer dual signed card looks fine. The '84 card looks a little off to me but might be legit.

Dang, I figured at least one of the two wasn't going to get a favorable review. I'm still digging through a box of old stuff and I know there is at least one more card that was signed with that '84 All-Star card. I've got a postcard that was sent back with that Ripken Jr. request as well. It had a stamped autograph on it that looked a lot like the signature on the All-Star card.

Anecdotal support for the signatures being likely good... In 1991, when I sent a card to get signed by Jr, I got back a note saying he no longer signs through the mail accompanied by a preprinted signature photocard. Given the wording on the note, my assumption was that he used to sign through the mail, so it would seem reasonable that signatures from the mid-80s would be good.
