I would like to buy some COAs for some of my signed items, but am not sure who is the best to get.

Obviously Frank Caiazzo would be perfect, but according to his site he no longer does them. Tracks in my opinion would be next in line, and they did have a service at one time. However, Jason just emailed me to say they dont have this service anymore.

So, I'm now looking at BeatlesMarketPlace in the UK.

Anybody have any thoughts on this? Who would you go to?

Thanks in advance

Lewis

Im not to sure if beatlesmarketplace is owned by him or not but i hear perry cox is is very good for beatles

Oh yes I forgot about Perry!

Try Christopher Morales, he sells COA's.

You want to Authenticate your items? WTF for? Either they're authentic or they're not? Go to  No one. Do the work yourself. If you are going to sell, show clear pictures of the autograph and offer a guarantee. Real collectors will buy it if it's real regardless. If you are going to keep them WTF would you need to buy a COA for? Stop already. This is what is so troubling about autograph collectors. Nothing but ANAL EDDIES when it comes to CO fen A's....your answer is "GO TO" YOURSELF!

Nigel Lemon at Beatlesmarket Place is very good. I would never doubt anything that he authenticates. Speaking from experience.

+1 on Beatlesmarketplace.com.....

I agree with Fudd here about buyers not needing a COA for this particular group. For other signatures, a third party authentication can be very valuable and a good investment in my opinion. Their will always be those times when you just arent sure if something is real or not, and if someone who is more familiar with certain signatures than you are can give a better opinion, than im all for that. And its worth the money for me to pay for those opinions.

But for The Beatles, as far as resale, their isnt near the need for a COA. If you arent sure if they are authentic, then it may be a good option, but if you know they are authentic, then a COA is not really needed for reselling. Beatles signatures are a different ballgame it seems. Most that are sold, are sold to professional collectors who study their signatures extensively, and who are always looking for new and authentic signatures. For instance, most new and inexperienced collectors want that COA for assurance, but the majority of beatles collectors dont need that b/c they are a different breed of collectors it seems. They know their stuff, and if the graphs are real, a COA from Perry or Frank will actually probably not add much value at all. So if your wanting a COA for resale in the future, i would say that you dont need one as long as you know they are authentic. You will get their value back and then some easily if authentic without a COA. Not to mention that a COA for a Beatles set (if from a reliable source) will cost a pretty penny.

Its weird i know, but Beatles collectors just tend to be a different breed of collector. You dont get many that are inexperienced or that need a COA for assurance.

Perry Cox no longer authenticates either. He did for my first set of Beatles autographs a couple of months ago but when I emailed him to do another set he said he had stopped on the advice of his lawyer.....

If your looking to have them authenticated and a subsequent COA given, i would go with Roger Epperson. He is on par with Frank and Perry in my opinion.

I think that you've asked a great question. With the trend apparently being for the most accepted Beatle Autograph authenticators to not issue COA's to the public (though some of them do for each other) just where do you get them?

You seem to do pretty thorough research for your autographs so I would assume that you are seeking COA's for insurance valuation and/or to increase future resale potential rather than just further re-assurance that they are genuine? If this assumption is correct then you would want any COA's to be from people who's opinions are accepted and respected.

With the high value of some of these items Beatles authentication does appear to be a mine-field for both collectors and authenticators alike.

Thanks for all the replies and information, seems like a touchy subject!

I know how much help this group is, and its brilliant for people like me who aren't experts. However, I think it helps when re-selling items to have an COA from someone like Tracks or Caiazzo.

I know I'd be happier buying an item that came with a Tracks or Caiazzo COA rather than one that didn't. I also think beginners collecting Beatles stuff will go for an item with a well known and trusted COA, than an item without. Whether it brings much more value I dont know. I think it will help alot on ebay aswell for selling.

So in answer to you Karl, yes its not so much for my re-assurance, but for future resale/insurance. And as you say I'd prefer one from a respected expert such as Tracks, Caiazzo or Roger Epperson.

Thanks again for the help guys

Lewis

Frank Caiazzo and Paul Wane at Tracks for me...are the best...

Thanks Jim, thats who'd i'd prefer!
