And specifically, do signed copies of the Howlin Wolf London Sessions LP exist?

Here is a 1964 UK Blues Concert Program that I bought several years ago signed by Chester Burnett "Howlin Wolf", Sonny Boy Williamson, Sunnyland Slim, Willie Dixon, Sam Lightnin' Hopkins, Hammie Nixon, Sugar Pie DeSanto, and Hubert Sumlin

Thanks for the responses and images. They confirm that the 2 autographed copies of that album currently for sale online are forgeries.

I've never seen a Wolf signature before. That's quite a piece...talk about blues legends.

Eddie Shaw & Hubert are both cool guys and happy to sign.

Hubert is playing NYC later this month backed by the Nighthawks.  That should be a lot of fun

They are provable forgeries. I did many concerts with Wolf, have many cash receipts, bar receipts, hotel receipts and autographs. he could not write! He had his own sign! But no signature! So, all of the autographs (and I have seen them everywhere) are fake. His brothers son, who was a pro football player, emailed me and confirmed what I already knew. Wolf did not learn to write his name before he died. Once took him to Ohio State for a public interview as publicity for an up coming show. He sat with a hundred students and put his sign on lots of flyers for the show! They were all his sign, not a signature!

I have originals on all these flyers etc.

Hi Gary,

Can you post a pic of what his real signature looks like. It would benefit all future collectors wanting to know what  a real graph from him looked like.

Good info, Gary.

I have to say those signed records look like nice pieces.

And please tell us a little of what Wolf was like on the road.

I am sue you're generally correct but, in this case, I did not buy a record. I took a copy of Slim's Shout and personally asked for (and got) the signatures of Willie Dixon, Sonny Boy Williamson, Lightnin Hopkins, Howlin Wolf, Sunnyland Slim, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Clifton James and Hubert Sumlin. No agents, managers, etc. were involved! I am almost certain the year was 1964.

In fact, I am going to auction this record soon. I would love to have a certificate of authenticity. All I can say is: I was there, I asked them and I knew who I was speaking to.

I don't own this one but here is another example of Howlin' Wolf's signature.

Wow...who owns this?

It's pretty close to the ultimate blues legends item.

Wolf, Muddy, Willie Dixon, Sonny Boy 2, Otis Spann plus Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and Buddy Guy.

As Johnny Winter put it, "Muddy Waters, the last and the best!"

Not to disagree with you, Sidney, but as much as I love Muddy, the Wolf speaks to me like no other. That is an amazing set of autographs.

No disagreement, Dave. Both giants.

I only regret that I never saw either of them.
