I happened to trip across this today. I have owned, and still own Mantle signatures from the early sixties, that look nothing like this. In fact, they are very similar to his late in life sigs. Does this look like a clubhouse to you?

I flagged it because it carries a JSA sticker, and I am really surprised they would pass this. they should know better. Let me know what you think when you get a better look at it!
Cee Gee, this is the vintage '61 Mantle on my '61 team signed ball. the "M" is very similar to his later day "M". In this Ebay listing, it is from 1963, and the "M" is not even close.
based on the other autographs, especially those of the Indians, he is right on about the time period. early sixties.
Cee Gee....perfect! Your '66 ball and my '61 ball ( I also had a '60 ball where the Mantle was still very similar to these) would seem to indicate that something is off with that signature from '63. Even at his sloppiest, I don't see Mantle signing his M's like that. thanks for your additional photos!
yeah...as much as I love Mantle signatures....if the price is right and the auto is crumby I will most likely stay away...
Bingo, the clubhouse Maris and Mantles on the 60's balls (which are so prevalent) are not even close to the authentic sigs, and easily distinguished. it is extremely difficult to find team balls with both signatures being authentic. I am fortunate to have located the one I have, on ebay of all places!
Here are 2 great authentic "Playing day" Mantle Style autos I would say from 51 up until about 59-60...the top version was his rookie style auto is what he first used and then it started changing to what looks to be like his final autograph style modified with softer rounder "M"s which he then morphed into the style on your team signed ball up until his more sharper style he used when he retired which the forger love to duplicate with the "half moons" as they say...
