aplusgraphs (in person) has an autograph of Dominique Swain on ebay.  When I compared the aplusgraphs autograph to that of other in person Swain autographs I noticed that the aplusgraphs looked rather different.

Dominique signs rather tightly and very linear which almost makes it look like long scribble.  You would not know that her name is Dominque Swain by just looking at her signatures.  The "d" is usually lower case.  She also will make stars or wavy lines above the signature.  I noticed that aplusgraphs autographs starts out with a different looking d which is rather big and
the overall signature seems rather loose and big.  I also see the dots over the name.  I might have come across one of of her signatures that have those dots but she usually likes the wavy and star things.  Some reviewers have vouched for aplusgraphs but the difference in the autograph is very noticeable to me at least.  I don't know if Dominique Swain was in a hurry and didn't properly sign the aplusgraphs photo.

Just a general consideration, as I do not have any knowledge of Dominique's actual signature.  I know she does quite a few autograph shows, where you may be seeing some of the more ideal signatures.  In those environments, she is obviously indoors, seated and in a casual, unhurried signing environment in which people are paying her for her autograph.  Aplusgraphs, I believe, gets all of his autographs on the street in New York (for free).  I would think this would make for a quicker, less ideal signature.

I was told by aplusgraphs that the "anomaly" signature was in fact a very early autograph in the 1990's and that Swain had actually changed her style of signature by 2000 like including her middle name, placing stars over her dots, and making her signature tighter and neater overall.  So I suppose maturity and settling in Hollywood set the change in signature styles.

Yep, signatures can change drastically over time.  I've seen some that have gotten much nicer, and some that have gotten much, much worse.  All in a matter of a couple years in some instances.

I just

It seems that the sit-down autograph events will likely render better signatures than that of in-person which usually means standing up in public or from right out of the blue. I would think the value of the cleaner and more official sit-downs would slightly edge over that of the sloppy real-time signatures because it's more difficult to determine if the sloppy handwriting is in fact a complete fraud. Is it much preferable to get the sit-downs versus the stand-ups? I've noticed that the sit-down signatures seem almost mass-manufactured and loses its intrinsic spontaneity.

If you're talking about a sports signing, then yes - those autographs can be repetitive and quite boring, especially since inscriptions are typically an additional fee and there are limitations to what they can write.

But if you were to meet Swain at the Hollywood show or any other event she might be signing at, you can basically have her write whatever you want for $20 - 30 or whatever she charges - and sign any unique item you can find.  That's an option you might not have on the street.

FYI - Here are some of her autographs from Hollywood Show appearances.
