Hi,

Looks real to me but I would be happy to have your opinion.

Thanks!

Wow very interesting and on a silver certificate which is age appropriate, looks like a late 50s era sig the funny looking "T" looks like his style as well, I am no expert but looks pretty good, one of the experts on here will tell you for sure. nice find if real, good luck !

Thank you John for your opinion. The man who sold it to me said it was signed by Elvis for his aunt in the beginning of the 70s.

I do not believe that looks like a late in life Elvis signature.  It is also signed very slowly.

Interesting input, thank you!

Anyone else?

As a plain old collector, my opinion is that it doesn't look good.

Thank you Brick for your opinion. Could you tell me more about what doesn't look good? I've carefully read the Elvis autograph study written by Bill White and it seems ok. Of course I'm not an expert in Elvis autographs.

I hadn't realized you bought the piece already. Some of the warning signs to me is the slowness of the signature and the overall choppiness. Also, it kinda has the clearly formed letters in Elvis of the 50s and earlier combined with the big overstated P you'd see in the 60s and later - plus the weird connection between Elvis and Presley and then the end of his last name just doesn't look right.

Roger Epperson is an expert on rock n roll signatures who used to give his opinion a lot more around here. I think scrutiny and borderline stalking has made some posters like him less likely to give their free opinion anymore. A quick opinion can be had at http://www.rogerepperson.com/ for $15 though.

Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. I think you and terrier8HOF are right so I'm going to ask the seller for a refund.
