My guess is that the cert is fake, UDA isn't certing fake graphs. They will only cert witnessed autographs.
The hologram number isnt registered in their database and I'll bet you money that if you buy it the seller will make up a BS story about how he lost the COA but not to worry because the hologram is on the item and everything is OK. Theres a reason he doesn't show the COA actually opened in the pictures, my guess is because its from another item.
Happens with everything, not just UDA items. Collectors must be vigilant in their purchasing.
At least Upper Deck has a system online for post 2002 autographs, Steiner needs to start numbering their certs for items that are not MLB authenticated. Epperson's certs are way too easy to fake IMO, anyone with a home printer can make one of them in about 10 minutes.
They do issue certs for the camp graphs though, so always make sure the number on the cert matches the number on the graph holo. That's much harder to fake than just the holo on the item.
I understand what you are saying, I have yet to see a convincing fake of both holo's on a COA and the item, but if you say they are out there I believe you.
They could easily remedy the situation by putting the items online, but with most of these companies they just don't care enough to put in the effort.
None of those images are clear enough to read the hologram numbers, but yes sellers will try to switch them around and take them off of other less expensive items or just make their own.
I would never buy an upper deck item that couldn't be verified in their database anyway.. isn't that the whole point of buying upper deck items?
