I'm a novice as well and I don't like that Carter. He signed for me back in 2010 at a show, heavier pressure, very tight autograph with more distinct letters. That one looks sloppy by comparison, not nearly as well formed. I may be wrong but those differences jumped out at me.

I thought I commented on this post previously. its not just the C that is off, its the entire last name.  he was very consistent with his signature, and unless this was signed when he was sick (could be), I have not seen this style before.  he almost always closes the a in Carter.  this signature is highly questionable.

Looks off to me, and no the GA cert doesn't help. Not sure why such a meticulously penned item would be finished off with a complete rush job of a sig. With no shortage of Gary Carter autographs out there, I'd personally look for a much better example to buy. The seller appears to have pulled it anyway.

It's your call but if it were me I would return the item and use the money you were going to spend on Psa to buy a nicer carter ball. There are tons of them out there at good prices.
