A collector I know is trying to sell me this Gregg Allman signed Les Paul pickguard.  I know Allman is extremely difficult on instruments, but he says this was signed in-person several years ago.  Any opinions from the community would be appreciated!  Is this authentic?  Thanks!

Hello,

I dont know Allman all that well, but i do have one in my collection, and their are alot of differences between mine and this one. But this could be an earlier sig or something like that, so id wait for someone else to chime in. But this one is authentic and at least it may give you something to compare too. Hope it helps

Thanks so much! I've seen several variations as well, and I know his "Allman" has changed over the years (see Roger Epperson's blog with examples) - but this one I just can't tell about. Hopefully a few more folks will chime in. Thanks for your example Trapper.

Hey Devon

This looks like his most recent signature he has been doing for the last few years.  The "n" in Allman is the really big change he made.

Thanks Roger. I'm sending you a direct message.
Any other opinions?? All help appreciated. I need this to add to a guitar signed by all (living) original members. Thanks!

I just got 3 Allman signatures. This looks identical to the three I have. A more recent signature no doubt.

I think its legit. I would buy it.

Thanks Rick! I appreciate the opinion. Now I just have to get Roger to authenticate the entire guitar :)
