HAS PSA/DNA OR JSA NOT PASS YOUR AUTHENTIC ITEM YOU HAVE RECEIVED IN PERSON ?

Whats up collectors...just a quick forum I put together asking if any one sent items in to these leaders of authentication and got denied by an authenticator's mistake from an autograph you have received in person and or an autograph passed down to you that was an item that someone else got singed in person like a father, grandfather, brother etc. ?...Education is key in this industry of autograph collecting and a second opinion is also a great thing to have which also makes your item more valuable in the long run...but did anybody ever have something you know was 100% authentic and had it NOT pass authentication ? I personally never sent anything in to be authenticated that I got in person because I personally don't need a sticker and a piece of paper to prove its authentic all though when it comes down to having to sell something it would be handy to a less educated buyer that DEPENDS on a cert. for piece of mind for a second opinion, were as a more educated buyer would not hesitate to purchase your item because they KNOW what an authentic piece looks like....CERT. or no CERT. PLease post photos of your authentic piece that did not pass if this has ever happened to you...thanks for reading...happy collecting !!!

Steve, Since we are on the subject of Obama now.. haha. I got Obama in person in Charlotte before he became president...downtown across from the Mariott. The newspaper was there and took pictures and video. I had a quick opinion done on ebay and PSA/DNA said most likely not genuine. I agree it doesn't look like most (or the others I have)...but I think baseballs are really hard to sign (especially with black sharpie). The OML ball I got signed has a Ripken Logo on it and you can sorta see it in the picture...Either way here is mine. Also included a few others that I got that look better and more like his signature most of the time.

Very cool. Regardless of what PSA/DNA decided, It was really a life changing thing to meet at that time senator, and now president. During that campaign I got just about every candidate that passed through even some indies like Nader. Primaries are great times to get potential presidents signatures even if it is Huckabee.

What's up Mike.O ...I would say in my opinion that even though Obama has signed baseballs before...Iam certain prior to him becoming president Iam sure he most likely never had a reason like you or me to sign a baseball...in that case in wouldn't be as neat as a photo or magazine cover being signed which would look much more cleaner and neater since we have all signed our names on flat documents thousands of times...it does suck that your item did not pass...but if you don't plan on selling it then there is really no need to have it authenticated...

Hey CEE GEE,

yeah no plans on selling anytime soon, I have a good string of President balls going back to Ford, so just saving them for my kids I don't have or something. Just sharing my PSA/DNA failure story. It does make sense though that it would take awhile to get the signing of baseballs down. As a senator not sure he was signing them everyday.

I have some other items I was thinking of selling and thinking of maybe sending to JSA or PSA/DNA. Stuff I got in person, it may be a couple weeks but I will let you know how it goes.
