Update 11/21 - Does this Axl Rose autograph seem authentic? (Looks good!)

Was about to give up on looking for this, but as soon as I refreshed my eBay search about 10 minutes ago this showed up by a seller called "memorabiliaink"

Check it out:

Damn.  I thought PSA was pretty much foolproof.  Oh well.  I think I'm just going to throw in the towel for now - thanks guys.  It seems like there's no 100% guaranteed way to get a legit autograph besides getting it yourself in person.  I'll just hope to have the opportunity.

There are good avenues for getting authentic autographs without getting it yourself for sure.  For music, PSA just isn't quite the overall authority.  Roger Epperson would be a better bet overall.  But I don't really know the specifics on how good PSA is with Guns and Axl.  One of their staff my be especially competent.  But, no, they most certainly aren't foolproof.

Oddly enough, some of the people who know certain musicians' autographs the best are the diehard fans.  That's what I've found with U2.

Thanks.  I'll keep Roger in mind if I ever come across something

If you do see a PSA certed one, I'd still say there's a better than average chance it's authentic - but it's not foolproof.  But you'd still want to cross refernce it with people who know GNR and Axl autographs especially well.

I cited Jason because he insists on getting everything himself, or he won't sell it.  There are some other in=person collectors like this, several on Ebay in fact.  To go back to your original inquiry, Autograph Pros seems to run a tight ship when it comes to their autograph collecting.

Just when I was about to give up looking…

(Updated first post at the top - could use some opinions)

Just an FYI, it might be a better idea just to start a new thread instead of changing the original topic, just for the sake of continuity (i.e. it might confuse some people who come into the thread to see references to Autographs Pros when that does not appear to be the topic at hand).

There are actually many legitimate in-person collectors that you can buy from on Ebay with good peace of mind that you have the real deal.  My initial opinion is that memorabiliaink is not one of them.  I would highly recommend passing on this seller.  There are a laundry list of red flags, and at least two items I see right away that I'm quite certain are forgeries, in spite of the "signing details" provided.

I trust http://www.hollywood-autographs.com much more than any PSA items. I bought an Axl Rose signature from him. If you want real and want to feel confident, buy from Jason or someone similar. It will cost more but you won't have to worry if it is real or not.

Also, that signed black guitar is a masterpiece. I love it.

Thanks Chad! I'm really proud of that guitar. It took me many, MANY hours and lots of patience but it was worth it. I have constant debates with myself on whether I should add the rest of the original lineup or just leave it as is. What do you guys think?

Also, I agree with you 100% about trusting anything you buy from Jason. His items are always authentic, IMO.

Regarding the auction you posted from "memorabiliaink", looking at his auctions for other items, there are several that are obvious forgeries and many that are suspect.  Based on that I'd stay away from this Axl Rose.  His autograph is very simple and isnt the hardest for people to fake which is why you have to also be extra careful with his autograph when considering purchasing one.  Unless you see it signed yourself or its by a 100% reputable dealer, or the auction has real exact proof, I'd probably just save your money.

Yeah.  He never responded to my messages so I guess he was scared, on the other hand, I found these two.  The first one, the person actually encouraged me to get a Quick Opinion from Roger Epperson, which I did and I'm waiting to hear the result.  He claims he got the signature himself from Axl in person.   The second one also encouraged me to have Roger do a quick look and said his came from a 3rd party, but he is confident in its authenticity.  If the first one turns out to be a fake, I will submit the second for Roger.  If that one's a fake too, I'm going to hang it up for a while because I would have spent $40 on Quick Opinions after that's said and done.

I just looked over the present and past offerings of memorabilia ink. Please stay away from these folks if you value your money and collection.

Yeah, I didn't go for that one.  Too many people warning me to stay away.  Waiting on Roger's opinion for one of the two in the post above yours.
