Hi. Im going to an autograph signing(Malcolm Butler) and ordered an official SB 49 football to get signed.

The issue is, what type of marker do I use? I've heard Silver Deco broad tipped oil based, but just want to confirm with you guys.

Thanks so much for your help!

Sounds right, but odds are he'll have a selection of pens right next to him if this is an organized signing, including the best one(s) for signing footballs.

Thick silver! It will last forever, IMO. I've got footballs that were signed in sharpie in the early 90's and now all I have is a football. Sad but true. I've got two Montana balls one in silver another in black sharpie...and the black one just doesn't stand out. The silver will pop! Obviously if its a white panel ball go fat sharpie but I've got a Jerry rice ball and it just doesn't seem to hold the ink. And all have them have Been stored away from then. Black can work but it has to be a fat sharpie but for long lasting and a better looking display, go silver and a think pen which as rich stated, they should have a ton there. But never hurts to bring one just in case. I've been at signings and their pens went dry and asked to keep mine. Plus if they just out of the. Blue dont have what pen you want you have yours ready to go!

Have fun! Show a pic if you don't mind when you get around to it!!
Thick not think pen....
The signing was pretty awesome. It was packed as expected, but the ball came out great. Malcolm was a really humble kid. We had a conversation about the play and what he saw during the moment. It held up the line a little, but oh well.

And one of the balls. I had two balls and an 8x10 signed. The Deco silver paint pen worked like a charm.

Thank you very much guys :).
