In my opinion the autograph is a forgery.
Hi Justin, now I'm going to preface this with "I'm not an Al Kaline specialist just trying to help with my humble opinion". He doesn't finish his A just like the one you have there. What bugs me the most is the K. His K usually looks a little labored (slowly drawn) especially the top right extension and reminds me of a nose where it connects. Now after saying all of that I could be wrong but that's my opinion. Maybe somebody else will also give theirs.
I forgot to add the "nose" usually connects lower. Google Al Kaline autograph and they all seem to connect lower on the graph. That one seems a little too slick. and thank you it gives me practice looking at examples.
Kaline's signature for years was consistent. Not so much any more. I believe that ball is authentic as it does closely resemble some of his recent signatures.
I have to be honest and say I haven't obtained sigs from him since the late eighties so am not hip as to his latest sig style. It seems like he is signing faster at 81 than years ago. The posted signature looks like it might be sharpie, the ball I'm not sure if an official one or a cheap "china" ball. Regardless I would go for a better ball for my collection. Great hitter, good luck!
