Hi Randy...I'm certainly no expert but from what I see and what little I know I think you have a genuine signature here.

Joe Louis certainly did work at Caesars Palace Las Vegas as a greeter at the casinos front door during the 1970's. There is a bronze statue now at the main casino entrance at Caesars to remember the Brown Bomber.

And I will tell you that I was lucky enough to see Joe Louis there meeting and greeting customers back in September of 1978, my very first visit of many to Las Vegas.

That's something I'll never forget!!

Everything about your autograph looks good to me!!

Thank you sir for the reply. And since this is my first ever experience with autographs not sure what to do from here. would it be worth having one of the top notch places authenticate it? And that would only be if i decide to get get rid of it. Still kind of excited about coming across it but not sure i can afford another hobby!

Hi Randy...I am happy to be of some help to you...

In my opinion it's the real deal but as I stated I'm not an expert. And as far as value I am going to suggest it is somewhere between 1 and 2 hundred dollars IMO.

The autograph authenticators can offer you a cursory or quick opinion on it for a modest fee. That's an option for you. There are auction houses that specialize in sports signatures for example. And some have more experience than others with boxing related items.  

Since this is all new to you may I suggest that you take your time, research some auction houses through Google and let us know what you find. Come back here anytime you like if you have questions or need advice and we'll be happy to help. Don't be shy!!

All of the above of course assuming you decide to sell...

Thanks again Don...the one thing i've learned for sure the past day or so is finding reliable info on autographs is like looking for a particular needle in a great big pile of needles...the comparison that keeps popping into my head is the coon dog enthusiasts around here in south Ms...the guy with the flashiest,most pure bred dogs and most most paperwork behind em(who aint ever won a field trial btw)always has high dollar dogs for sale and the old man who has just a few hounds and cant tell you what breed mom or dad was and wins every trial he decides to enter,which is very few btw,may give a puppy away sometimes but would never sell one of his 'good' dogs.

Since i live in a part of the world where collecting of any kind is way down on the list of hobbies and no way my brain could take this much work trying to find out if it is even real or not think i'll just show it around locally maybe a local boxing enthusiast will have something to trade,there are a few around,i live close to where the sullivan/kilrain fight took place....thanks again!
