Hello Collectors,

It has been many years since i used to go after these 2, but they were always some of my favorites to try and track donw. I was able to get Jimmy several times in 2008, and Gilmour a few times in the earlier 2000s, but even then it seemed they were really tightening up. I, however, have not tried to get them in many years now and really dont have much reason to go after them as i have some cool examples of them. I have been hearing some reports though that Jimmy has stopped signing for the most part, and that Gilmour has become next to impossible to get to sign. And then just yesterday i heard Roger Waters was hitting his limit as far as signing.

Does anyone know if these reports are true, or that might like to share an experience.

thanks so much

Carl

where did you hear roger waters is hitting his limit as far as signing?

Hi Ray,

I read it here on AML, in one of the threads concerning pink floyd and authenticity. (i cant remember the name of it, but it is one of the ones that is still up and active, definetly within the last 2 weeks).  This was the first i had heard that Roger was stopping as well, but with all the band members kind of winding down, i dont really doubt that he is winding down too. But check those threads out and see if you can find it, if you cant ill look for it as well.

Hope this helps

Hi Ray,

just did a little looking and found it.

The reply is from Michael who runs autographpros.com, and he knows his stuff, so i believe you can take it as accurate. As for if Roger is cutting back on fans or not, im not sure, but it appears dealers are getting a harder time. Hope this helps

Hi John.  Welcome to Autograph Magazine Live.  Let me start by saying that complete Pink Floyd items are not something you should get into buying unless you are very well versed in their autographs or get one from the most trusted of sources.  Gilmour is next to impossible to get to sign and complete items are just tough to find.  If you are going to pursue these types of items I'd really stick to hoping one turns up at one of the top major auction houses but you'll be paying an arm and a leg for sure.  Solo Gilmour signed items can get into the $1000s.  In regards to the one you posted I'm not a pro at vintage versions of the band's autographs but I can tell you that their modern autographs look nothing like that.   If you are a true Pink Floyd fan or collector of rock autographs I'd suggest going after Roger Waters autographs, preferably PSA authenticated ones.  Right now the market is pretty saturated with them but he's recently claimed he's stopped signing for the pros so the market is going to swallow up all the excess that's out there and the prices are going to steadily rise.  You can find photos, bass guitars, regular guitars, and albums pretty cheap right now (considering how legendary the band is) because he was super generous the past few years but again, that ship may have sailed and his signing days may just be done.  Best of luck in your collecting.

About Waters:
I think that its not the new information. Roger has problem with autograph sellers and he stopped to sign some things around fall 2010 - instruments, pickguards, photographs etc. He signs official tour souvenirs (one of my friends got signed the part of the Wall from the show) and music (Pink Floyd albums or solo albums).
