Hey guys,

I was recently going through some of my things at my parents house, and found this first edition Harry Potter book and signed bookplate which I won in a waterstones 'design a Harry Potter bookmark' competition when I was 9!

I have no recollection of weather I was given this by JK herself or just the bookshop, so wondered if you guys had any idea on authenticity or value?

Images attached!

Thanks,

Tom

Rowling has had so many preprinted bookplates since Potter took off, it's tough to tell without the piece in front of me. If you can see the ballpoint ink or indentation left in the signed bookplate that would be a good indication of it being hand signed.

The date is a good thing, 1999 is a couple of years before the movies blew it up even bigger.

The book may have some value being a first edition, and I am not someone who can help you with that, but the signature plate alone if handsigned would be worth at the very least a couple of hundred dollars.
