What about this ball sold you on it?
As long as your happy that's all that matters. Just was curious what stood out to you.
Nick, its true that all that really matters is that you are happy with it. but I agree with Fudd, on a scale of 1-10 of Koufax signatures, this one is at best a 3. the JSA cert might ensure that you get a reasonable pay back if you choose to sell it, but it does not ensure authenticity. I am still not convinced with these newer Koufax signatures.
all kidding aside, if you look at the last name, it looks like it spells "awful".........
A few months back one of the two authenticated a Ty Cobb that ended up being a forgery. I know one if not both have authenticated item(s) that were made years after the player had passed that were signed by that player. I've never seen a dead man sign anything but I guess anything is possible. The big problem I have with a Ruth, Cobb, ect forgery besides the money you pay is that there were less items that someone could sign something with, like sharpie's, along with different paper back then, ect. It should be easier to authenticate an older graph vs a newer one. You or someone is paying for an opinion. Unless you see it signed in front of you there could always be a slim doubt. Unfortunately the authenticators are the best thing available. Also like you said, a graph could have been a rush job. The best thing for anyone to do is be familiar with the players signature. That's tough because some players graphs change over time.
The last thing. If I get an IP graph I actually saw it signed whereas if I buy one from UD, ect you don't know 100%, maybe 99.999%. But insurance companies want a COA to insure. I know there are many scumbags in the world that would try to run an insurance scam but it's funny that if I see it signed you must have it authenticated to get it insured even though you know it's real but one authenticated by one of those companies you never really know 100%.
