Hi!

Armed with the great advice I've been getting here, I've got a few TriStar items headed my way. Now I need to get another collection of opinions.

I see several very nice-looking balls being sold on eBay. They aren't very expensive, but I wouldn't expect them to be. They are either living or recently deceased players. None of them are what we could call "superstars," although there are a couple of HOF guys in the mix.

The autographs look authentic. I'm not sure that it would be worthwhile to a forger to get good at signing balls that would sell for under $50. None of these would be very in-demand, which also makes me think that forgers aren't involved.

The COAs in this case all come from Leones LLC. I've searched both here and in general and can't find much of anything. It looks like it's a sports and record memorabilia shop in Rochester. I can't be sure it's the same outfit, however.

So, I have questions that perhaps someone here can answer. Have any of you had experience with their COAs? Have you heard anything (fact or rumor) about the validity of them? How about my thought that no one would bother to forge not-so-famous players (I'll use Mickey Rivers as an example, but that in no way is dismissing his value as a Major League talent)?

Again, I want to thank those who shared information and thoughts on my previous post. This is a nice little community and I'm proud to have been accepted into it.

Sometimes there are less nationally recognizable sports dealers (i.e. names less recognizable that Steiner, Tristar, Mounted Memories, UDA, etc). Fans outside of Wisconsin might not recognize the name Waukesha Sports CArds, but Packers fans around this area would recognize them as the place to go for Packers autographs.  But if you can't find anything about a dealer online, that's usually a bad sign.  It could have been a local business from years back that may or may not have been good at what they did, but if that's the case, the certificate of authenticity is completely worthless. You'd probably have to get the autographs re-examined one way or another.
