Hello everyone,
I am a brand new member from Japan who has been collecting in a very amateur way for a few years now.
Ironically, I can spot fake signatures on Japanese objects I also collect - like swords or hanging scrolls - but have already been duped by a couple of English language autographs.
Having been a lurker of this website for a few years, I was finally motivated to sign up by the realisation one of my favourite autographs may well be counterfeit. It is supposedly by French actor Louis Jourdan in his iconic role as 'Count Dracula' from 1977.
It is incredibly rare to get a photograph from this production signed by him and so, six years ago, when I came across one I was delighted. Unfortunately, the seller has since become the subject of some very discouraging threads on this forum and so I'm almost certain that learned members here will tell me this is fake.
The seller in question was the infamous Jonathan Button of Regis Autographs and below is the allegedly signed photo and also comparisons of that signature (blue ink on black-and-white with grass) shown against other, confirmed autographs by Jourdan.
Any opinions would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Simon
